Some of u guys have been criticizing on PBL.
1) I really want to hear why u think PBL is stupid.
Btw, Indiana curriculum is not 100% PBL. Yeah, 100% PBL is impossible.
Hm..frankly, I misapprehend the concept of PBL.
Indiana prerequisites include human anatomy/physiology & biochemistry.
I input my thinking in red color.
First-Year Curriculum
T501-T502 Critical Analysis of Clinical Problems (3-6 cr., 3-6 cr.) T520 Critical Thinking and Professional Behavior: An Introduction (3.5 cr.)
T530 Molecular Cell Biology (5-10 cr.)
T540 Dental Sciences I, Part I (7 cr.) T541 Dental Sciences I, Part II (8-15 cr.)
T542 Dental Sciences I, Part III (1-3 cr.)
T551 Systems Approach to Biomedical Sciences I (8-14 cr.)
T561 Orofacial Biology I (5-10 cr.)
T562 Orofacial Biology II (4-6 cr.)
---> No biochemistry ; Maybe, molecular cell bio
---> System based approach ; Cardiovascular, Immune system, organ system, etc is expected
---> No systemic anatomy / no oral anatomy
Second-Year Curriculum
T601-T602 Critical Analysis of Clinical Problems (3-6 cr., 3-6 cr.) T641 Dental Sciences II, Part I (5-15 cr.)
T642 Dental Sciences II, Part II (5-15 cr.)
T643 Dental Sciences II, Part III (5-15 cr.)
T651 Systems Approach to Biomedical Sciences II (5-10 cr.)
T661 Oral Disease and Diagnosis I (6 cr.)
T662 Oral Disease and Diagnosis II (4-6 cr.)
T663 Oral Disease and Diagnosis IIIClinical Pathologic Correlation (1.5 cr.)
-----> No pathology
----> No histology
2) Can anybody find which course is dental anatomy? (Do they cover systemic anatomy, too?)
--->Think maybe that's the reason anatomy is one of their prerequisites.
3) They look not cover much about systemic medicine.
Do u think it's because this curriculum is more focused on dentistry from the beginning? (Compare with the curriculum provided at other institution) Or Just enough with systems approaches to biomedical science in blue color?
Give any feedbacks......Thanks!
