I am very interested in learning about career choices for a pharmacist in the pharmacy industry and in the government/FDA. Is there anyone who could give me some information or a better idea of what kind of work is available in these areas?

Well...the dean of my pharmacy school became the FDA Commissioner. You have to be politically connected to get there......and he was! (as well as smart, good in his field, etc....)

Seriously, though....you have to take an administrative residency...Kwizard or the residency forum can give you some direction here.

You really need to know FEDERAL issues concerning drugs & drug policy. You might want to get started in a local public health setting...then move into the CDC or somewhere to get a more "global" view of health issues. Then move into the federal arena. However....be aware...the federal arean is very political - just see the PSE regulations. As soon as the administration changes...so will those regulations.

As far as new medication approval issues...you really need to get into industry to understand the regulatory process involved in that. I'd encourage an internship within an industry setting.
