Info about UT-Houston?

Does anyone go to or know anything about UT Houston SPH? I applied to the Epidemiology program and the website is not very helpful. I've gotten into Minnesota and I love that website and school but I don't want to make a decision based on their websites. I can't find any way to contact a student or learn more about the program. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

What a coincidence. I am an MPH-Epidemiology student at UTHouston Health Science Center. Feel free to ask me anything!
I came here to this school in Fall 05, from UT-Austin. I love this school because its in The Medical Center, there are sooo many opportunities around here, anything you want to concentrate in (bioterrorism, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, etc.etc.) you can do it here. I recently did an internship at MD Anderson Cancer Center (which was across the street from school of public health, how convienent), and it was a wonderful experience working in cancer prevention with graduates of my school, the papers that were published by the principal investigator that I worked for were actually studied in my classes.

The tuition at UTH-SPH is a good deal, we have a lot of students from Tulane SPH that came here last semester, and many many of them decided to forget Tulane and transfer to our school totally because the campus is nice and soo many opportunities here. Transportation is also very good for student housing and the school.

Hi Julie

How is the MPH Epidemiology faculty at UT? Is there anyone who is really nice and approachable- and maybe also someone who can help out a student who is currently pursuing her MD? I have a friend who wants to do this at UT-H and is looking to meet some faculty to discuss her needs and maybe select this person as an advisor too. She will probably apply for the next round of admissions, but would like to meet with faculty first.

Hi Julie and topworm - I'm interested in UTH as well but I also thought the website was a bit low on info. Can you do a general track MPH or do you have to pick a concentration? And do you get the option of picking a concentration after you're accepted, like after the first sem?
