Hi, I'm new to this site, but it looks like it will be very helpful. I have a friend who is applying to anesthesiology programs in the States (from Canada). UCSF is her first choice because her husband recently got a job there. I'm a resident in a Chicago program for the same marital reasons, so really don't know much about the west coast programs at all. If anyone has any useful info about the program there, please let me know... ie. competitive? lifestyle? faculty? call? malignant? training? more focus on clinical or research? I think my friend is a very competitive candidate scoring over a 230 and has excellent grades and references - so I'm pretty sure whe will be interviewed...oh, one other question - any idea what cost of living is like in San Fran?
