Hi
Some newbie questions..
I see some schools like NYU list Inorganic Chemistry as one of their requirements. In my school, inorganic chemistry is one of the highest level of chemistry. Do they mean General Chemistry? The first chemistry class you take in college? Also, do these requirements have to be completed before i apply for the dental school? or is it expected to be completed before entering first year of dental school?

thanks

Inorganic chemistry is General Chemistry. I think you'll need the requirements done by the time you enter dental BUT how are you planning to do well on the DAT without taking Gchem for example?

oh the question about whether requirement has to be met before admission or entering the dental school was not about general chemistry. I figured some schools require biochem and others require micro and psychology so I was worried i would not be able to complete all these requirement before i apply.

So anyway, those requirements do not have to be strictly met before i apply for the admission right?

Inorganic chemistry is the same as general chemistry. You must take it before you can enroll in Organic chemistry at most schools. The DAT is the Dental Admission Test that you must take to apply to dental school. At a minimum, you should complete 8 hours of general/inorganic chemistry, 8 hours of organic chemistry, and 8 hours of general biology before you should attempt the DAT. However, taking a variety of upper level biology classes will help improve your score.

Most dental schools require:
General biology- 8 hours
General chemistry- 8 hours
Organic chemistry- 8 hours
Physics- 8 hours (some only require 4 hours)
English composition- 6 hours

In addition, many schools now require additional science classes such as Microbiology and Biochemistry.

If there is a public dental school in your state, you should take a look at their website to see what they require.

No you don't have to complete them before you apply, just before you start dental school.

hahaha
i was actually stupid enough to went through the inorganic classes with lab

i hope they can just list them as general chem...
