Ok, so i've come across a point where i should choose between two paths of academic career.

I'm really kinda debating whether i should do 3 years of undergraduate studies or 4 years.

A) if i do three years AND continue my projected major i will most likely not be able to complete my ChE degree before dental school.

B) BUT if i change majors to a Biology or Biochemistry major, i will be able to complete that degree in three years no problem.

C) then if i do four years then i will be a ChemE major and i will complete that degree.

The catch is that i have to make my decision on which major i am going to choose by the end of this semester so its either going to be choice A/C or B since the prescribed courses for each degree differ...The reason for only three years is that tuition is fairly high at 40k a year and as of now i feel that i could pull off three years so i dont really see the point of staying a fourth, besides getting a BS/BA in ChE. At this point i've basically decide that dentistry is going to be my career of choice, i'm just a bit unsure of how to go about making that happen.

I currently attend Rice University with a GPA of about 3.5~3.6
i've shadowed a dentist summer of 06, interned with another this past summer and also just recently registered with the Texas SBDE as a registered dental assistant so that i can assist this upcoming summer and get a more hands on experience of dentistry, and perhaps if my schedule will allow assist during the school year as well.

as of now, i am planning to just stay ChemE and apply year 3 and year 4 if needed... should i be doing anything different?

oh and also planning to take the DAT's early next summer...

input?

oh and all the shools i intend to apply to after year 3 do not require a degree...that i've checked to make sure

go for the ChemE degree. Right now it may not look appealing but it will be worth having. Schools look highly upon Engineering Majors. Besides if something ever happened you could always fall back on your engineering degree.
Most schools say they "dont require" a degree, but its come to the point to where you need one.

Enjoy your undergraduate education, it will prepare you for dental school, you've got to learn how to drink sometime, and dental school isnt the place.

honestly do the one that is easiest the schools dont care what u majored in. yeah its nice to see something different but doesnt matter that much. i think u got a good game plan.
