Interesting Interview problem, Please Help!!!

So, I just received an interview invite from my state school, I am very excited about it. However, I was informed that I will be interviewing sometime in Dec. It is currently July, and I was really hoping that I would get an early interview, I also work at the research part of the medical school, so I can pretty much do the interview whenever.

So, please tell me what you guys think. Should I email the person (an asst. Dean) and kindly ask to see if they have earlier interview dates? Or should I just wait. Would it hurt my chances if I ask for an earlier date? Is it something others have done and turned out well?

Also, could it be because they didn't like my app too much, that's why they placed me soo late for interview? At the same time, I don't want to come off as an ungreatful premed, because I am extremely happy that I got an interview invite.

So, please please help me, I am going nuts lol 😱.

I think to change the interview date, you might need a good reason (youll be out of the area at that time)..but if its just because you want an earlier date, then I'm not sure it would look too good

im sure if we all had the opportunity, we'd want to interview early and speed up the process

it seems weird that they'd give such a late interview unless they've already filled earlier spot (yikes) or they just don't start interviews until ungodly late.

On the bright side you'll probably have interviews before then to kinda use as practice runs so by the time you go to that one you'll be a pro

Well, I know they start in Sept. and I am almost positive they have not filled up the interview dates before then. So, it is either due to the fact that they didn't like my app that much, or its due to my last name (starts with a Z) 🙁

And ya, I don't really have a good reason other than the fact I work at the medical school, and it is my top choice 🙁
