Hey Guys, Im new here🙂 Just want to share a case with you guys and know your opinions.
30 year old Patient K has complaints of red, itching spots on face, necks and hands in the cold environment, such as windy cold weather. One day she washed her face with cold water. 30 minutes after she had gone outdoors,a cute itching and swelling at sites exposed to cold water occurred again. She went to the hospital and was hospitalized.
1. What pathological processes developed in patient after she washed her face with cold water? Substantiate answer.
2. What is the mechanism of process?
3. What pathological process should it be distinguished from and what is the key difference between these two processes?
4. What groups of medicines can be used to prevent or inhibit this pathologic process?
So what do you guys think. My professor told me its type 1 hypersensitivity (anaphylactic shock). He says that mast cells are abnormally activated in low temperatures. However, i cant seem to find the information in Robbins or online. 😕
