Can someone answer this question pls! Sounded pretty interesting for me!

Which of the following tastes is the first perceived?

1. Sugar
2. Salt
3. Sour
4. Bitter
Is there a sceintific reason behind this?

I think the answer is bitterness!!! because the tip if the tongue senses it....the reason for this adaptation is that most poisons that u find in nature r bitter ...so we evolved to detect it "sooner"....but than again it depends where u place the food on ur tongue 😉 lol

Has my elementary education failed me!?! I thought bitter was at the posterior of the tongue... Isn't sweet at the tip?

I think this is a covert way of asking which taste is "most sensitive". In that case the answer would be bitter - on the posterior 1/3 of the tongue.

Well,even i thot that bitter is tasted in the post 1/3rd.
n about the evolution part,i did read bou the same but wasnt sure of the implication.

this question is not asking about the location of certain tastes...it is asking you about what is first perceived. remember your mouth is wet and thus you have solutes in solution....millions of molecules per volume. Now the Q is what is first perceived? Sweet can flow anywhere...salt can flow anywhere....sour can flow anywhere...bitter just the same way. I believe Q is asking what are you more sensitive to? And the bitter = poison in most cases is true. We have adapted and evolved.
