I have come across some interesting information, though I can not understand why I'm having trouble finding controlled studies to evaluate the efficacy of the drug.

The following pg describes the consideration in one piece:
http://www.sott.net/articles/show/183995-Iran-makes-first-herbal-anti-cancer-drug

At first I was as dismissive, as most will be when they read the small script. I then continued to google to do my own investigation, unfortunately, I was VERY limited with search results in both google and google scholar. The following information is what I found, which is limited.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18575066
http://www.sciencedirect.com/scienc...002db8e9c304e6b00ca69b03a6436120&searchtype=a

I also considered the main component capable of producing the indicated results.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmal

Lastly, I came across the following, which also utilizes the primary component indicated above.
http://www.lurj.org/article.php/vol2n2/hiv.xml

Personal bias and skepticism aside, why is there such little studies available for search retrieval?
Any help or links is appreciated.

Nice try, college student trying to get SDN to do his/her homework.

Firstly, do not assume anything about my question. Secondly, yes, I am a college student and I do not have any assignment that even comes close to discussing such topics. Thridly, kindly ignore my questions if you are not going to provide helpful topics of consideration. Also, if your purpose is not to learn and conform with new discoveries than you are in the wrong profession- not to say that this "drug" is effective, but you should always be open and ready to investigate new topics.

Yea, you struck a nerve- one of dissapointment for "class of 2015"

Good day

I'd be humbled indeed if it weren't for the fact that you did not attempt to stimulate a discussion about the drug, its components, or effectiveness. The only thing you asked for was the provision of useful links, indicating to me that you're far from interested in our opinions and collective input on the matter and more interested in seeking a quick resource for what is most likely course-related research.

No one's but your own "willingness to investigate new topics" is on trial here.

Now good day.

Studies take money, often millions to billions of dollars. Why haven't these studies been done- simple answer- no one forked over the money.

The best family practice docs are those who can live a little and are fun... They are the best to work with, be treated by, etc...

The best docs in general, I'd venture to say, old chap! Pip pip!

LOL really?

OP, a few things from your friendly senior mod here in pre-osteo:

firstly, you might get a lot of flack for stating under your name that you are a medical student if you aren't actually in medical school. Might consider changing that one as it seems to rub folks the wrong way. Ethics is a big thing in medicine, and that starts with representing yourself properly. Even folks in medical school get in a lot of trouble not making it clear they are medical STUDENTS when patients call them "Doctor". Just sayin'.

As to your original post, it appears the substance in question is Iranian. It also appears most of your links are written by folks in Iran, so peer-reviewed legitimate medical studies may be very hard to come by.

I would humbly suggest that if you are so intensely curious about the substance in question that you email the author of the original article and present your queries to them. They would be more able to help you than folks here who likely have access to the very same search engines that you do.

And lastly, I would severely caution you from taking anything from Wikipedia as gospel. While some of the information there is good, you should realize it is written by anyone who desires to submit, whether they be quack, 8 years old, delusional, PhD trained, or just claiming to be something they are not.
