Hello.

1) I am wondering if the letter writers get notified when I send out mails from Interfolio to AMCAS and other places? For example will my professors get an email saying that I've sent their reference to AMCAS?

2) Also, can you use Interfolio to submit reference letters for scholarship applications? If so how do you do it?

3) How long will it take if I send in the references from Interfolio to AMCAS?

For Q2, can't you theoretically pretend that you are mailing it for a scholarship application, but actually write down your own mailing address? Thanks a bunch!

1) not 100% sure, but I would bet money that they dont get any notification where/when you send it. I had my letters sent out last year and talked to people who wrote my letters later and they had no clue I had applied yet...so, unless they wernt paying attention to their e-mail, more likely than not Interfolio doesnt send them a notification.

2) you can have your letters sent where ever you tell them to send it. Theres an option to put in an address to where you want it sent if its not in their school list...If you need something specifically done, I would contact the Interfolio folks...they were extremely helpful to me last year getting some stuff straight with my letters. There used to be a representative of Interfolio on the boards here who was also very helpful. You might do a search to try and find him for specifics if you have trouble.

3)I believe they send it electronically to AMCAS..so not very long.
But, it will probably take time for AMCAS to process it..depending on how heavy their application traffic is at that point in time.

I wouldnt risk sending a fake address to get a copy of the LOR from interfolio...Rather than scheming to get a copy of your LOR, just ask your writer for a second printed copy.

Regarding #2, it will flag you and not send if your name is in the address because it apparently thinks you are being sneaky. When you get the ticket saying there was a problem, you have to reply to the ticket. I just had this issue twice over the past two days which was for a rinky-dink scholarship. Mike at Interfolio said they're going to send it with a free upgrade so lets see if they actually do. Actually the upgrade isn't as important as it actually arriving at the proper location.
