I am currently enrolled in human physiology I for my last semester as an undergraduate. Yesterday was our first day of class and my professor said something that worried me. Basically students that plan to take 1 semester of physiology need to take intermediate human physiology because it briefly covers all systems. Students taking human physio I must also enroll into human physio 2 to complete the physiology requirement. I had never heard of this. Most DPT web pages, say 3 credits of human physio and dont say anything about intermediate physiology. Just wanted to know if anyone had info on this and knew of the preference of schools. Ill be calling the schools I am applying to tomorrow for clarification. thank you

Usually schools do one of the following-- a two course sequence of Anatomy and Physiology or separate courses of Anatomy and Physiology. You do not want to take a course that is the first of a 2 course sequence unless you plan on taking the second course; you need to take the course that gives you the complete overview in one semester.

Thank you, Markel. My professor mentioned the same thing to me. I was about to have a heart attack. I would have had to postpone my December graduation so I could complete physio 2. Fortunately, there was one seat available and I quickly swapped human physio 1 with intermediate human physiology (a complete human physiology course). However, I may not have the same luck with the lab course. It is currently full but I am hoping my professor will allow an override.

Earlier today I contacted the programs and some actually preferred intermediate human physio while others stated either one. Some programs wanted to see course descriptions. I didnt have time to do that with the drop/add week coming to a close. Intermediate human physio is my best bet.

take care!

Great!! I'm glad you were able to switch in!! Yeah, I had a few courses where the schools I was interested in wanted to see the course descriptions and when you're in a time crunch it definitely doesn't help, so it's better to be safe than sorry!

Good luck! (I hate physio haha)
