My school encourages us to do international rotations in years 3 and 4, and will foot most of the bill for it as well. Many of the programs are in English, and in very cool places all over the world. I can't wait!
I'm considering one of a couple rotations in France. I speak quite well, but I'm concerned about medical French specifically -- when you learn and use a language, you learn/use words like foot, nose, tummy ache -- but not spleen, myenteric plexus, celiac sprue. So I guess I have two rather broad, sorta related questions:
1. Has anyone (US or no) done international rotations (NOT missionary work), etc? Where did you go? Would you recommend it?
2. Does anyone have any good resources on learning supplemental vocabulary? (i.e., are there any good medical french books, CD-ROMs, or tape/book combinations, etc?
Thanks in advance. Namaste!
