I would like to know, is it possible for someone having all his pre-med work done at a foreign university and attends a Caribbean Med school such as SGU or SABA do clinicals in the US? This is considering he is a permanent reesident of the US. Also, would it be possible for him to match considering he has done no form of studying at an American University/College.

Yes matching has more to do with the USMLE then anything else.
How do you think IMG's match? Just wondering...........................

My four year Undergraduate degree was done in Jamaica. Furthermore does Ross or SABA require a four year Undergrad degree (from an US accredited institution) like med schools in the US? Cuz I could jst do the pre-requisites here in the US and apply.
And yeah IMGs match but arent they required to be a registered MD in their country first before matching? (jst asking not sure

) Anyways, do any of you guys know of anyone in a Caribbean Med school from another country(not the US) but is planning on practising in the US?

No problem if you finished in a Jamaican university.

American students are encouraged to complete at least 90 credits, but as long as the Jamaican university is accredited by Jamaica, it will be just fine. It is a good idea to call up the schools just to make 100% sure.

No matter what, it is a great idea to finish you pre-reqs in the US and ace them!

Doing clinicals in the US depends on your visa and step 1 score, not your undergrad courses (once you are in medical school).

No, IMGs do not need to be licensed to match in the US. You only need an ECFMG certificate, Step 1, Step 2, Step 2cs, LORs and graduate from medical school.

Canadian here, going to the US...as countless Canadians have done in the past.

Why not UWI?? You can Practice in the USA from UWI it is very respected in the USA and Cali approved.

Yes it's possible. Once you are in med school, work hard and ace USMLE.

I considered the UWI option but for two reasons it does not apply. UWI is 5 years and does not prepare you directly for the USMLE. Also, I am currently working in the States.

I am from the Caribbean and did my undergraduate work at SGU.I finished with my Bsc. Life Science.I also considered going to UWI, but would prefer go to another Caribbean Medical School. I am applying to SGU and also AUC. Not sure how hard it will be to get residency in the US or England which ever way I choose.
However I have a few friends that are from my country and went to SGU, graduated this year and 2 of the 3 have already matched last MATCH, one was offered a pre-match but didnt take it. She got into IM with a subspeciality in GI and Nephro at SUNY Medical Centre in New York. The other girl has also matched don't know where and what.The other one who took a break while working in our local hospital has already gotten 5 interviews and an offer to pre-match at the same hospital as one of the girls which is his good friend..all of them being from the same country.The school said based on her performance thus far and if he is anything like her they definitely want him..however am waiting to find out what happens. Thus far all of my old high school and college friends from here in the Caribbean has gotten great residencies..so I am not too afraid..as many people say its all about your USMLE scores.
