Internet dating in medical school?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From my understanding, Tinder and OKCupid are free, which is why they tend to be overrun with douches looking to hook up with anything with a pulse. The "tinder fail" and "ok cupid fail" websites have some hilarious examples.

In my community, Tinder is mostly a hookup (or casual 2-3 dates prior to hooking up kind of thing) site. None of my friends that I know of have found long term relationships off it.

Match and eharmony and others require a subscription, which at least filters out a little bit of the riffraff.

Match and eharmony probably filter some of the freaks and losers but they concurrently filter those of us who aren't just quite hard up enough to fathom paying for a dating site - which makes the pool of options still less than desirable.

Fair enough. But it seems like it's becoming a more and more socially acceptable thing to do

Wait till you take NBMEs that can have like 12 answers choices. That feeling when you select J and the answer and then decide " F*ck no, I'm not picking J, if that's the right answer I want to miss the question anyway." brb making a table to simplify what each answer choice corresponds to in terms of correct conditions.

Lol

multiple choice, select the correct answer:

a. S. pneumo
b. H. flu
c. Listeria
c. Mycoplasma
d. S. aureus
e. Blastomyces
f. Aspergillus
g. Klebsiella
h. Serratia
i. Nocardia
j. legionella
k. Candidia
l. N. meningitidis
m. fusobacterium
n. actinomyces
o. S. pyogenes

Isn't tinder just about hooking up with random people?
Meh, my best bud found his Tinderella this past spring and they're pretty serious.

....But yea, its most common use is for hooking up.

Don't forget Plenty of Fish, which is like the ghettolicious version of OKC. But you're right, you do have to sift through a lot of crap on these sites to find the good ones.

Bump. Need new place to post stuff.

Fancy, I think I've read enough of your posts to have a reasonable confidence that we would be great together, but you're already taken.

.....and I already got my heart broken once by an Indian lady who is going after that tooth money. 🙁

I think my parents might have been right about modern Indian women being very materialistic lel.

Indian women are just like white women, only darker.

Aren't you Indian? I'm not, but more of my good friends are Indian than not, and the culture seems very materialistic to me. I mean gold and silver are extremely huge parts of your culture for a reason.

Gold, not silver. Duh

And I am not materialistic

It's especially prominent in Indian culture.

Yeah but the ****ing diamonds on every woman in western culture are not materialistic at all for some reason.

All people are materialistic, none more so than western culture.

I never said that at all, are you offended or something? Yes western culture is very materialistic, so is Indian culture. I know many indian people like to look down on western culture, when they exhibit many of the things they point out as well in their own.

Like what?

Brah don't do this to me. Indian people have a superiority complex over white people. Let's just admit it. We all know it's there , I literally joke with all my friends that I'm inferior to them and I'm glad they tolerate my presence.

No, maybe that came off more aggressive than I intended. Humans all suck, that's all. It's laughable for any american to look down on another culture for being materialistic.

Completely agree, wasn't looking down, just confirming Ark's thoughts as these societal norms and he generally aren't on the same wavelength.
