those stats are two years old. they have changed a lot according to the 2005 us news guide (based on 2004 admits).

Can you do any better?

It's the best you're gonna get for free. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

yeah. go buy the USNWR's online package. they give detailed (in/out of state) stats on apps/ints/accepts/matrics for every school

Somehow I don't think the OP was asking, "Hey where's that site where I can pay for the information."

I wouldn't pay for it. I don't see how it changes anything.

Um... it is not that i can do better (i have the book and don't have time to type it all up...) but i think it is fair to let the OP know that the facts are not current and differ from the 2004 stats (in some ways rather dramatically at that!)

what schools do you want to know?

nm, i got it. my friend hooked me up with usnews online 🙂. wanted to know about the schools i got interviews at.. seems like an awful crapshoot 😛. chances at ucla = 1/3, uci = 1/2, iowa = 1/2. shrug. i'm a statistics *****.

im a stats ***** too. i looked up all the information for all the schools i interviewed with. however, i took it to the next level and figured out the chances that i would be accepted at at least one school, as well as other various scenarios. hey. . .at the very least it made me feel better. i hope everything turns out ok for you. good luck.

How do you do this?

by adding together the percentages, probably.

i assume that would work

edit: im sitting at 243%, not counting my tmdsas schools. this means just about all of nothing.

lol, is that how texans do their probability... i guess it's no longer a surprise why the president has done what he has... how can it possibly be 243% - it has to be between 0% and 100%. even if every place you interview at accepts 90% of interviewees, your probability of getting in assuming you interview at 10 such schools will be less than 100% but quite close to it. it's a binary distribution where each interview is independent of the other interviews. so in this case it's analagous to the probability of a 90% free throw shooter missing all 10 shots, which doesn't have a negative probability, of course. but with your stats, indy, i'd say you're pretty close to 100%...

i dunno, i never took a statistics course. i was thinking that meant that i was in line for 2.43 acceptances... not chance of one acceptance.
