I have my first interview coming up in October. Any advice on what I should be ready for? Its at a program I am not really to interested in, but am now considering. I see it, at the least, as a way of practicing my interviewing skills/abilitys.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Steve

i just had an interview today - it went well - had 5 30 minute interviews - the program director, the chair of the department, the chief resident, the director of the SCI program and a neurophyscologist - also had lunch with the residents at a lecture - just relax, be prepared to answer basic questions - like why PM&R - what research experiences have you had or are you looking for etc...

I think the best thing to do before an interview is to make sure you know yourself and what makes you unique. Most students know why they want to go into PM&R, what got them interested, etc. Many don't go through the exercise of looking at self from the perspective of PDs - what would you bring to the field? what would you bring to the program? What makes you different from the other applicants?

Numbers, LORs, and CV stuff get you through the door but it's what makes the PDs remember you that will get you matched.
