It wont take you long to get acquainted with the area, the town consists of one road, I interviewed there last year...you will know what I mean after your interview.

First of all, I just want to congratulate you guys on the interview.

I just got an email to interview Nov 10th too! Also flying from CA, SoCal? Any advice or takes on affordable ticket info?

yr1ntrly: I'm also flying from CA and would love to carpool. I don't really drive, but wouldn't mind splitting costs for car rental and gas.

Tiamat, I don't really drive either. I thinking about declining the interview because it is very long and costly.

Haha, I was thinking about doing the same myself. Flying there and back will cost a lot of money, and I still haven't found out what I'm going to do about transportation.

anyone else gonna be there on the 10th? im really excited about this! i cant wait to meet the faculty i hope it doesnt snow a blizzard or anything b/c my car will never make it! lol i think the school has reasonable tuition and the students with whom i have spoken with all say it was a pleasant experience....so i hope you guys who turn down this interview wont regret it! ;-)

don't get your hopes up about this school. I used it as a learning experience, but you will be disappointed if you expect too much-..I know because I interviewed there last year.

don't get me wrong, the school is great...but the town is worse than you can imagine!!!!! And thats a big part of starting a new school..the location

I feel the same way you feel about the school, but I'm broke. I'm going to try my best to be there.

I have an interview on Nov 10th also...what are ur guys stats and all, do u think we all have decent chances of getting in since it's an early interview, does anyone know the rates at which they accept or reject after being invited to the interviews??? Thanks, I think I'm driving from PA, i hope I like this school 🙂

I have an interview on 11/10 as well, and I also interviewed there last year. NOT looking forward to that mountain drive again, though!

when did you interview last year? did you get rejected or did you turn down the acceptance? also...what can you tell us about the experience? was it stressful?

Hey those who got interviews when did they have your complete application?

Hi guys, I was looking at the google map online for the school and it is kind of in the middle of nowhere!! Is that right? I used both addresses that they have on the web site and what I found was pretty much scary! Any ideas from the people who already been there?!

^i am not alone!
i used the address on their site using Google Earth (yeah i'm a dork) and it zoomed into a random area of forest...no cities nearby or anything..

That will keep you studying 😀

I tried mapping out the school as well. Looks like a very long "2 hours" from the airport. I just hope I make it there.

If you did not like the area why did you apply again???? could you not get in anywhere else? sounds like you should not be applying there! The people i have spoken with say it a beautiful place, country yes, rural yes, but if you read the web site that is what is says right in black and white. 😕

hey just trying out my signature.....😀

Is anybody over 25 and will be renting a car for the Nov. 10 interview? Its unecessarily expensive to rent when you're under age. I'd like to share if anyone is interested!

Farmercist: I'm interested in carpooling, but I'm 24 though, and I don't really drive so you would probably have to do the driving.

For everyone not familiar with the area the school is located in a extremely rural area. The town is extremely small and will take a couple of hours to get to any city of reasonable size. The mountains are beautiful in the area and the area seemed peaceful to me when I interviewed there last year. I am from the region so it didn't bother me much, but some could be in for culture shock, especially those from larger cities. Also don't expect to get good cell phone reception. I know last year I got no cell phone reception at the school. Hope this helps.

i just dont understand why someone would apply to a school and then complain about the location - its just a location! i personally do not have to have clubs and bars to have fun. heck, when it comes down to it we probably wont have any time for anything but studying anyway! i can only imagine how intense an accelerated program is gonna be! i worry about getting there on time because i am soooo nervous and i just want to do a great job with my first interview - im just scared i will have car trouble or something that will ruin my year! 🙁 i think i just worry too much sometimes! but really, the school is going to get its accreditation, your going to have to spend 99.9% of your time studying w/ no fun stuff and to top it off we will all be great pharmacists when we get out! (assuming im lucky enough to get in). i wish you all the best! goodluck! PM me or something to introduce yourself and ill be sure to look for you at the interview! take it easy!

Hey guys, for all who are applying or interviewing or past interviews, what are the chances that student who get offered interviews actually get admitted, I see there are a lot of student here that are being interviewed on Nov 10th. Good luck everybody. Anyone going from PA?

For the person planning to drive from midnight and get there at 7AM, don't do that. It's a VERY bad idea. I think you should spend that extra $89 and book the hotel room. There are no street lights and if you get lost, nobody will be there to help you. Your phone won't work. What if you miss the interview? On top of that, you want to be fresh and ready for your interview, not tired and worn out. And then to drive back another 6 hours after the interview?? Very bad idea.

As far as the location, no matter how bad people tell you about it, you won't believe it until you come here for an interview and actually live here. It's UNIMAGINABLE!!! You just have to see it yourself. I'm not even talking about clubs and bars. I'm talking about having something decent to eat, you have to drive 2 hours.

The school is still a work in progress. People have better chances of getting in if they interview early. I know people with 3.4GPA and got rejected and people with 2.6 and got accepted. I think the interview is very important.

Good luck to all!

i interviewed there last year and totally agree with DreamSeller...book a room! I was lucky enough to share a room with some people I carpooled with, so it ended up being pretty cheap. The school is really hard to find in the dark...we got lost a few times and had to stop and ask for directions. The streets are not that well-lit, there are barely any signs, and it's mountainous driving. PLUS there is no phone reception whatsoever.

I went to the interview last year since it was my first interview invite and I paranoid that I wouldn't get into any other school. If you know you have a chance at other schools you applied to, I wouldn't attend this interview. The school is still in the works. There is only ONE building on the main campus (which used to be a high school!). You have classes in a gym, basically. The nearest Walmart is at least half an hour away, and there is really nothing surrounding the school except for mines. If you like rural environments, UACP will probably be a good fit. Me, I'm too much of a city girl =)

Interview wasn't bad at all. You sit in a room with 2 interviewers and they ask you the standard questions. There is also a scenario question, and then another question about your interest in working with the rural community. They want to make sure that you're a good fit for the school. The earlier you interview, the better your chances. Out of the 7 people who I carpooled with and/or befriended, 1 was waitlisted and later ended up accepted and is currently accepted, 1 was rejected, and everyone else got in. Out of the 5 of us who got in, only 1 ended up attending UACP. TO be honest, after seeing the school, we didn't even stress out at the interview because we knew UACP would just be a backup school. I think our relaxed approach in the interview got us all in though =)

Anyways, good luck to all you guys interviewing! I remember being extremely excited/nervous before my first interview. Just relax, smile, be sure to ask questions about the school to show your interest, and be yourself. Have fun at UACP and enjoy the scenery..it's actually quite a nice change from the city life.

hey what were your stats and why did you get waitlisted after interview? also, after the interview, how long of a wait is it for a final decision? And if you get waitlisted, when did you hear about being accepted. are the chances of accepted after waitlist high? thanks so much 🙂

like i said a dozen times before the location of the school is not an issue for me..i have been around there before and i know its rural. my only concern about the school is the cost. i worry that i will owe tons of money when i graduate and thats not something i am crazy about! i have heard through the grapevine that the cost for the first year is $20k and 2nd and 3rd about $26k.... not bad but factor in the cost of living which some have said upwards of $750/month for an apartment....$70 internet/satellite....$40 water....$40 electricity. thats about $900/month and im sure these apartments probably have a year lease! about $10,800 for a year + tuition, and these will be private loans (until the school gets federal aid..). this would be the only thing keeping me from going there if i get accepted. as for everything else said before about the school, i really dont plan on having much of a life outside of school anyway so its probably better that its remote! 😉

The apartments you are referring to are 750.00 for a two bedroom apartment and the internet is high speed cable from Time Warner that runs about 30 dollars a month. A single apartment around here can be found for $350 to $500 a month.

The new 1-bedroom apartments are $595 and utilities not included. But you can always find other cheaper places.

So the people that had the interviw on Sat, what did you guys think? Do we have good chances? are you guys going to go here if you get accepted? 🙂

rxstudent... who were u? lol i was there on sat. also and i think it went really well and i was really impressed with the school! a new building?!? SWEET! that alone tells me that UACP is here to stay and i would be proud to be UACP alumni! i think we all stand a great chance considering it was the first interview.

btw, did u see the stats from last year? avg. gpa = 3.17 over 900 applications for 68 spots. i think we all stand a good chance ;-)

Does this school absolutely require public speaking? My CC does not offer this class and APP was one of my choices if I can't get into a nearby state school.

Its all the more disappointing because I would have every other pre-req covered.

Are you sure your CC doesn't offer a public speaking course? It's pretty standard and is generally required for any 2-year degree. Check under "Speech" or "Communications," or ask a guidance counselor. If you absolutely can't find it, many schools offer a Speech or Public Speaking course online.

We have something called "Fundamentals of Speech". And regardless it would be impossible to fill between now and spring of 09. I'm taking both of this year's summer sessions, and then 19 credits in fall of 08 and 19 credits in spring of 09.

I took two years of a foreign language at another college would that possibly count as a substitute?

Foreign language is not going to be a substitute. You need a speech/public speaking course.

Does your CC have interim sessions, or maybe does it do short-sessions, in which you can actually take two sets of classes in one semester? It's a little jammed, but you need to understand you're not going to get into any graduate or professional school without a Speech credit.

Many don't require it, ie. Buffalo, Albany, LECOM, Rutgers and Philadelphia to name a few.

The winterim session offers only basic remedial classes like writing skills and they are all online.

It seems I might have to scratch Appalachia off my list, a pity indeed. The rural backdrop appeals to me.

That's interesting, and someting people need to know before making teir choice.

I absolutely hated my speech classes. It was so pointless, but you really do need to complete your pre-req, and if you get accepted to schools that don't require it, then great!!

What did you guys think of the interview? I was there!!!

who were u dreamseller? i met so many p1's and p2's i didnt think to ask about SDN lol

I was there yesterday as well and does anybody know when to expect to hear from the school?
