I am preparing for interview at Kansas University School of Pharmacy. I have visited the posted feedbacks but they are not very updated. Is there anybody who have just recently interviewed at KU??? Could u tell me how your interview went? What are some experiences and advices that u can give to following interviewees... Thank you very much in advance

I don't think KU has started their interviews yet. My interview is April 7, and from what I understood this is the first round. There will be three total. After April 7, I can give my impression (if your interview is after that). When are you interviewing?

My interview is on April 7th too... but I heard there is one interview on March 31st... And I also want to hear some experiences from some interviewees from last year too...

Yeah, interviews started last Saturday.

They were doing about five at a time with 3 interviewers per candidate. It is going to be somewhat variable since everyone is interviewing with different people, but they were just reading questions off a sheet so they should all be about the same.

Most of the interview questions were pretty standard: Strengths/weaknesses, why pharmacy?, etc… Nothing too unexpected
There were also two scenario-type questions: What would you do if a friend, who is a habitual drug user, was applying to work at a pharmacy and wanted you to help them pass the drug test? And also, what would you do if you saw another student cheating during an exam?

Those seemed kind of silly. Who is seriously going to say, “Oh, well I guess I would pee in a cup and give it to them.”

I think my interview went alright. The people who did it were fairly nice and didn’t try to intimidate or attack me (the way some of the site feed-back and a friend of mine made it seem like might happen). Good luck with your interviews; don’t be too nervous.

hello everyone,

I have been desperately waiting for an interview invitation from KU, but i havn't heard anything from them since march 5th, when they told me that they will email the applicants in 10-14 days for an interview invitation. it has been month n i havn't heard anything.. and i m not sure if i should call n ask them abt my status. what should i do?
i m out of state (florida) i have been already accepted to NOVA (west palm beach, fl) and LECOM (bradenton, fl) and i have interview with UF next friday. but my first choice is KU..
I HOPE I HEAR FROM THEM THIS WEEK....i check my email a million times a day hoping they might have emailed me..it is very frustrating
i would appreciate any comments

If I remember the last stats from the last year i think it was.

I believe 470 some apps for 105 slots
GPA at 3.6 and a PCAT avg of 81-82

I'm finishing up my 4p year and I had a decent GPA but I rode my PCAT scores in. For some reason I did real well on those.

When I got in they had several different interview times and processes, I believe based on where they graded your paper app to be.

I finally called KU today after long wait to find out status on my applications. they have one last round of interviews this week and they already sent out the invitations.. but i havn't received any invitation letter from KU.. so basically I AM NOT IN 🙁.... i expected it. 🙁

OK....so it's no February 2008, my application is in, and hopefully everyone else applying to KU has their app in too. So I'm wondering when we should be receiving notification about interviews? Anyone who has applied to KU, please post when you hear about interviews!!!!

I'm in Kansas and my preferred school would be KU since it's only a 20 minute drive from home. I'm not at the stage of applying yet but would love to hear what the stats are of those who applied and got an interview.

Last year they conducted all their interviews in April. I don't think they sent out any invites until march.

I am new to this forum, but I did submit an application to KU for next fall and have been corresponding with the admissions office. Susie with admissions responded to my email about three weeks ago saying this when I asked about when interview invites would be sent out:

.The School is preparing for an accreditation visit in the next couple of weeks. The Admissions Committee will probably meet sometime in March. Interview notification will be sent sometime after their meeting & reviewing the files. This whole process takes a lot of time. Notification will be by e-mail..

I think this means that maybe sometime soon we can anticipate interview invites, but the process is taking longer this year than normal due to the long accreditation process. Just wanted to pass along that information. We will all just have to keep waiting I guess!

gosh this school is so disorganized! back in january, i called them to see if they really needed a high school transcript, and this lady said no cuz i met all their requirements, and i remembered asking her twice, so i didnt sent one in.

then the mid week of feb., they notified me and said that they required the high school transcript, so i sent one then..

THEN first week of Mar., they notified me saying that they're missing my college AND high school transcript!

so i had to send those 2 again last week, and im trying to get hold of them to see if they got it... and the status thing online doesnt even change!

i dunno if i get a chance for an interview.

I am soooo excited. It is the interview I have been waiting for but its in A WEEK. I'm so nervous. My stats, I think are pretty good (4.0, 85 PCAT, and pharmacy experience) but my interiew skills are not so much.

3.8gpa, 83% PCAT, 1 year pharmacy work experience.
As for the interview, try to relax. That is key. If you seem like you over-prepared and answer like you sound like you rehearsed everything for weeks ahead, it won't look as good as being able to come up with answers naturally and explaining your own background. That's what they look for.

I had the interview today. It was not as stressful as everyone made it out to be. Everyone there was really nice and made me feel really comfortable. They didn't ask any difficult questions. They just wanted to know about me and it was a very casual conversation. So overall I'm really happy with how it went today. 🙂

I know a few people who have their interviews next Saturday. As far as more invites goes, I'm not aware about that.

My interview was at nine. I think that they start at eight. It lasted about half an hour.

Can someone tell me if they had multiple interviewers or were there just 3 interviewers that scheduled every half an hour to see students? That wouldn't be too many that got in to be inerviewed...just wondering. Thanks

there were four people interviewed about every half hour by three interviewers a piece. So about eight people were interviewed per hour.

I wish my interview had me feeling as optimistic as the rest of you but do you think some of the interviewers may not be as easy as the others...do they basically ask the same set of questions to each student? I do not know how this all works quite yet...thanks

It seemed like the interviewers each had their own worksheets with a set of questions on it so I'm thinking all applicants were given the same questions as time allowed. I'm pretty sure they didn't get to ask me all the questions because I saw the three interviewers still had two or three questions that they didn't get to take notes on.

Yay I finally got my invite too!!!!!! It's for next Thursday, the 24th. I hope I'm not too flustered this week and can still study for my classes! Has anyone who has interviewed heard yet about acceptance? Have any advice for other interviewers?

I had an interview.
What does it mean if the interviewers didn't write down anything? I mean, not one single f*ckin' scratch on a piece of paper.
And one of them was messing with her sleeves or nails or something for like half the interview?

It doesn't necessarily mean anything when they don't write anything down. Some groups that interview wait until the candidate leaves and then write things down... Try not to over-analyze it or stress out too much. You did your best and now you just have to wait it out (which believe me is the worst part!). I interviewed at two places, one where they wrote a ton while I was in the room and the other where they wrote very little with me there and I got in to both of them! So, it's all about the style of the person that interviewed you and probably has very little to do with you as a candidate. Hope this helps to calm your nerves a little! 🙂

Maybe you should try calling the office. I know a pharmacist that graduated a few years ago and had the same problem so she called down to the office and they told her that she got in.

Usually, in the past KU has picked some students into the pharmacy program without the formal interview...did that not happen this year? Does anyone know if anyone has been accepted into pharmacy school for this year?

Yea, I figured it would still be awhile. I got accepted to Creighton about a month ago and they need my deposit and scholarship acceptance by May 1st. I am going to go ahead and send it in I guess...I just can't lose my seat because I am waiting on KU. KU is just a lot cheaper due to instate tuition, but I feel like Creighton is a better fit for me personally. I guess student loans will just have to be in my future! I may call them if I don't hear by the end of this week. Good luck to everyone still waiting!
