I have scheduled a few interviews. I e-mailed the coordinators with the dates that were good for me after their initial message through ERAS, and they e-mailed me back with a date from the options that I gave. They also said in the e-mail that the hotel would be provided.

But, I haven't received a confirmation regarding this date or the hotel?? Is this normal? My interviews are not until Mid-November to December, so I guess there is plenty of time. Have others experienced the same thing?

I've always gotten confirmation on the actual date of interview. But, like you, no confirmation on the hotels. I'm guessing that will be taken care of closer to the date.

You should get confirmation of your interview date within a day or two. If not, that warrants a call to those residency coordinators. The hotel confirmation is a different story. There is no standard. Some will let you know a day or two after confirmation of your interview date and some will wait until it's closer to the interview date to confirm a reservation.

If they emailed you back with a date from the options you gave than isn't that confirmation?

Really though- I know some programs send an "official" date confirmation through an ERAS message or by means of a generalized Interview Confirmation letter in an email attachment, but not all programs are this fancy! Judging by the various misspellings and nonspecific/ incomplete/ confusing information included in many of the generalized emails that programs send inviting applicants to interview, I just have to assume that a lot of programs out there aren't even aware of the caliber and standarization that other programs are adhering to in this scheduling process.

Re: hotels... so far, about half of my Confirmation emails have mentioned that they will email me the hotel confirmation "in a few weeks" or "in mid-November". As for the ones that haven't said anything about hotels since their original Invitation to Interview email, I just assume that they're going to send me the confirmation when it gets closer to the interview and that they just didn't think to add that bit of info in the Confirmation email... it just doesn't occur to some of these dear program coordinators 🙂

Either way- when a program emails you back with a date, go ahead and respond something to the tune of "I'm so glad blah-blah date works! I'm very excited about coming for my visit. By the way, your Invitation to Interview email stated that your program provides one night in a local hotel- should I schedule that myself or do y'all handle it? I look forward to hearing from you!!!"
