Hi

I just got an invite from a program for an interview - they listed two dates that interviews were available. Unfortunately I already have interviews on those dates. Would it be alright if I emailed back and asked if they could let me know if they have any other dates / cancellations in the future or should I accept I can't do the interview?

thanks!

Obviously if this program is one you are more excited about than the program you already have scheduled you could accept and cancel the other. That would basically kill your chances of getting the other program back however. If you want to interview there, but not at the expense of the previously scheduled one just politely email back saying that you are honored for the opportunity etc but unfortunately cannot make it on those days and ask to be considered if future dates become available. I had to do that with one program and they have since emailed on 2 seperate occasions with an available date that opened up (I wasn't able to do either one still but atleast they are contacting me). In reality if they know you can't make it based on simple logistics they will likely waitlist you without you having to ask.

Yes, totally appropriate, best with a couple of date ranges that work for you. If you don't have any luck, you have to decide whether to bag this one or one of your other interviews.
