Hello,

I received interview invitations from dental schools, and I have been planning to retake DAT on august 15th.
I was planning to retake my DAT because I received 14 on my RC, and really didn't expect to get an invitation. But, I am kinda scared I'll do much worse than
I did before (got 21AA,21TS,22PAT). I was wondering if cancelling my DAT will hurt my chances to get accepted.

Please let me know what you guys think!!

If they are sending you invites based on your current scores, and you like the schools, why would you take the test again?

Invite doesnt mean acceptance. They will holistically look at your application again when handling out acceptances. But your scores does look really good with the exception of the RC, a very important section. A tough call to make. Personally, I wouldn't and just wait and see how it play out. Worst case retake in June or July of next year. Unless you put it in your application that you was gonna retake, then they will expect to see a retake scores

Did you select the option on the AADSAS application that you will take the DAT again on a future date? If so, I'm surprised because I thought schools will review your application after your new scores were processed since that would be a "complete application".

I did say on my application that i will be retaking DAT again, and many schools asked me if I want to them to review my application, and once the decision is made they won't review my application again.
However, to my surprise I got an invitation to BU and Midwestern. Didn't expect any invitations tbh, but I got very lucky. They also did not ask me of anything

Well when I applied, my intention was that schools with lower GPA and DAT scores comparatively to mine would give me interviews, and retake DAT just for RC to maybe get an invitation to schools around my GPA and DAT. I didn't expect my top choice (BU) would give me an invitation tbh.

I did put it in my application that I was going to retake, and I wanted to a better job in AA,TS and PAT since I realize I have no hopes for RC. I think i'll keep on studying until my exam date (8/15), and decided whether to retake it or not!

Then I would roll with it, crush your interviews and call it a day. If you’re interviewing this early in the cycle, you have an incredible shot at the schools that have reached out thus far. Good luck and congrats.

I decided to not take DAT and kill the interview. Anyways thanks!
