Interview invites---time to give up on schools?

I know that interview invites are still being given out, but I am wondering if I should stop thinking about some of the schools I applied to. I applied to 19 schools in total and have gotten interview invites to 12 of them already. My two favorites being ones I am still waiting for. The thing is I was complete for almost all of them within the first two weeks I could possibly have been....Is it still possible to receive invites after all this time?
 
WOW you are an exceptionally rare case.

12/19 is an Extremely high percentage. I've never heard of anyone receiving that many interviews before within 2 weeks.


And no, you receive interviews as you go along in the year. I was complete last year in August, and I didn't receive my final interview of 5 until january, scheduled for march (which I actually ended up getting accepted- didn't attend though).

12 interviews and you want more!?! Most applicants (not sdn) probably do not have any yet and some schools have not even started handing them out or just did the first or second batch this week.

Also, I have to ask... How do you plan on paying to travel to 12 interviews? That just seems like a lot of money.

This is a serious question. Its so annoying when people accuse someone of bragging when they are simply wondering about something. To clarify: I probably won't go to at least three of the interviews and 6 of them are in texas which I will be able to cover with two trips. Once again....so annoying and it happens alot on SDN. I have not heard from my top three schools. I was complete for all of them in early july. I have just been so bent on those schools that I probably have not given enough attention to the schools I have actually interviewed at or at least been invited to....

You realize you could have found the answer to this in a number of places without posting this thread. Such as mdapplicants.com or last years school specific threads...

mdapplicants.com is not very helpful for a variety of reasons....but maybe I could find some more info from those schools from last years thread.

You could have easily gotten an answer to that question without mentioning that you've gotten all these interview invites you apparently don't care about. It is only September! There are plenty of people with ZERO invites so far that will be end up accepted to multiple schools. This is why it sounds like you're bragging: you are asking what seems like a neurotic question with an easily-found answer, while you are clearly in an excellent position.

We could tell you're arrogant from your original post, which also is an attempt for people who didn't receive an interview to feel guilty about themselves. Quit your bragging, and change your arrogant behavior.
 
Wow....The fact is that mentioning the other interview invites was supposed to put the fact that the other schools haven't said anything into context. I am sorry everyone is so sensitive. As I type I am nervously awaiting an interview for tomorrow and am still nervous about the rest of the process. I did not mean to offend or hurt anybody. For anyone to make a judgement call on me being arrogant is just sad. I am done with SDN. Hopefully you meet me in real life sometime. Peace.

Looking at MDapps it looks like most schools aren't nearly done handing out invites yet. Not that I'd want more if I had 12 already....I do not have that kind of money.

So I figure that those 12 interviews you mentioned weren't so relevant? And this is an Internet forum, so everyone's anonymous (except for people who registered with their real names). No one's sensitive here except for you. You didn't have to mention the number of interviews you had in the original post in order to make your point. Because you did and believe you won't get anymore interviews, you sounded arrogant, so I pointed that out.

I'm pretty sure you were aware of how the application process goes before applying, and you're just here to rile us up (but failed).

And OP, it's an internet forum and all of us are anonymous. We wouldn't know who's who unless we introduced ourselves by SDN username. You're more of a bragging type, whose feelings get hurt when someone on the internet call you as arrogant (you revealed it yourself).

I'd be nervous too if I only had 12 interviews. But yeah you sound like a real winner, hope you make it.

Yes OP, you'll statistically probably get more invites. Out of curiosity, what are your stats? That is a fantastic proportion so far, best of luck with the one's you want to get into!
 
ONLY 12 interviews? How will you ever get into medical school?

I hope that your crass smugness comes out during your interviews and adcoms see you for what you really are.
 
Damn 12 interviews only? That's pretty horrible dude. You should just withdraw from these 12 since it will just be a waste of your time and money anyways
 
Two things:

1) A borderline arrrgh-**** like myself could have discovered that interview invites go out well into December, maybe even January or February of 2013.

2) Even if #1 wasn't easily ascertainable, the number of invites you've received thus far has exactly zero bearing on the number of interview invites you'll receive in the upcoming months, unless, of course, you receive invites to every institution to which you've applied.

So you gave superfluous information in the process of asking a frivolous question. Stands to reason for people on here to ask "WTF?"

Does anyone else remember one of the first posts this guy made?

Aren't you the one who posted a whole bunch of somewhat identifiable things and asked what to do if you're interviewed by someone out to get you? If you're a troll, you sure laid low for awhile. If you're for real, you are highly neurotic and need to chill out on a few levels.
