Are most interviews given before or after December? It seems logical that most would be given early (percentage wise--especially those who are extremely qualified) but then it seems like a significant amount still gets interviewed after the year is over (from searching the forums). Anyone have some insights?

Schools interview up until April. However, the general consensus is, the early bird gets the worm. That is, earlier the interview, the better your chances. This is especially true at rolling schools and even at non-rolling schools like Columbia, which makes a note somewhere in their application that applying late might hurt your ranking.

My insights:

1. Interviewing "late" (i.e. January/February) doesn't hurt your chances.

2. Only interviewing extremely late (March/April) might affect your chances.

3. "I interviewed late" is the most common excuse for not getting into a school (much easier to accept than my application was defficient in X area, I'm a bad interviewer, etc.)

4. I think many schools, especially the non-rolling ones, encourage applicants to apply early by telling them it matters when you interview so that they don't get everyone procrastinating until the end and getting 80% of their interviews during the last month.

you guys related? 🙂

Ah . . .that's cute. But just because they have the same last name doesn't mean that they are related. 😛

I had no idea 99 was such a common last name. We must be distant cousins or something.
