Hi everyone!

I have an interview next month and am looking to figure out ways to add a little extra preparation to my schedule.

I love to listen to podcasts / audiobooks, and feel like this would be a good way to work a bit of interview prep into my daily routine, because I can listen on walks and while I’m doing anything like driving, cleaning or cooking. My upcoming interview is an MMI, and recently I’ve been playing the audio of YouTube videos about MMI ethical questions throughout my day whenever I can.

I’m just curious if anyone has specific resources- whether that’s podcasts, books I could listen to, or YouTube videos that they recommend for this. Open to anything that is specific to interview prep, but I’m also looking to build background knowledge on healthcare topics that could come up in interviews.

I also find that when i listen to good podcasts or books I become a little better at articulating my own thoughts if that makes sense, it helps train me to speak in a more clear and thoughtful way, which I’m sure will be helpful for an interview. Thought I’d throw that out there in case anyone else has an interview coming up.

Thanks in advance! Any suggestions are appreciated

I really like the All Access: Med School Admissions podcast -- they don't have a breakdown for all schools but it really helps me figure out the mission and the why for the schools and honestly just helps me build my med school vocabulary as a first gen applicant.

Thank you so much!! I’ll definitely listen!

Many of my MMI prep videos are organized for Becoming a Student Doctor enrollees. I also suggest running through the 50 Casper/SJT scenarios on the forums here. BSD also helps applicants become familiar with the jargon thrown around academic medicine/healthcare and highlights what the community is doing (and says its doing) about critical challenges facing the system in the next decade.

I also say you need to find a good balance and not over-prepare. MMI is a vehicle or framework for question delivery. Not everyone uses MMI the same way, and it's easy to prepare incorrectly or overprepare. Be familiar with STAIR/STARS answer structure.

Someone can help rate for me these prep tools.... thanks. Note these aren't US-written.

AACOM also provides access (supposedly) to

Also, the "acting" booths/scenarios... you just have to accept it. If you have any experience with improv or acting courses beforehand, that will help. I help BSD enrollees with interview prep and what each program should be asking about.

Seriously, if you easily lean into the MMI prompts or scenarios, you will be fine. Just stay on time and allow the evaluator to ask their 2-3 assigned follow-ups. I would make sure you practice in a more realistic position... that is to stay, don't multitask. Be focused, and record your answers. Plenty of people have written books or videos, including our SDN blog articles and the MMI guide on the forums.

Thank you!

I found The Medical School Interview by Samir P. Desai and Rajani Katta to be quite helpful at taking interveiw preparation to the next level. It's available on Amazon in paper or Kindle form. I found their book on MMI prep to be far less helpful.

Thank you I appreciate that info! I’ll check it out
