I havent gotten any interview offers yet but I'm worried about my current schedule when I do get an interview.

Here are my questions:

1. Can interviews be done on a saturday? I got class on Tue and Thurs. On top of that I told my pharmacy that I can work Mon, wed, and friday. So I am in trouble if I get an offer out of state for an interview.

2. If Yes to #1, can I choose which saturday and time I want to do my interview on if it is within a reasonable time frame?

3. Did you guys wear a suit?

It is all about priority. From the impression I'm getting...you're putting work above getting an interview. YOU should work around the given interview time, NOT the other way around. Anyway, I'm also sure your pharmacist would gladly let you take the day off, seeing as they went through the same process at one point...
But to answer your question, yes; some schools do have interviews on saturdays. But not all. Some will let you choose, most will not.

And yes, you should wear a suit. Search the forums, we discussed attire somewhere.

How much advanced notice time do they usually give for the interview?

I agree with the above, I work usually over 40 hours a week at the pharmacy i currently work at. My supervisor makes teh schedule a month in advance, I have already gotten in 2 fights with him for trying to alter my schedule for interviews..but pharm school is the priority. Most schools give around 2 weeks it depends on teh school...but try to make your manager understand, because your interviews are your priority and so is school. good luck

most schools give you about 2-3 weeks notice. regarding ur previous question, it is all about priorities.

i personally feel like it shouldnt be that you "fix" ur school and work schedule and then look to see where ur interview can fit. i personally see it as "fixing" ur interview and then making ur school and work fit around that. i had to miss class for 2 days and work for 1 to make it to one of my interview. i felt like it was a small sacrifice compared to the possibility of getting to go to pharmacy school

thanks for the tip ya'all.

i would hate to have your manager. 👎

I agree. Honestly, at this point in your life, you #1 priority is to go to Pharmacy School. Work and school are helping you achieve this goal now, not the other way around.

Yes, arranging your work schedule in advance around interviews (if you dont have any) is silly. You cross that bridge when you get there. And the soonest you can interview, you take it, because if you have to wait a month, other people will get their seats before you, and you will be more in jeopardy. Tell your professors and employer, they will understand and if they don't, well tough luck!

I don't think most schools let you choose when to interview. Most do interviews where several prospective students attend and tours and lunch are given, then the group splits up to do the actual interview. If I were you I'd take the first interview I got no matter what the day. I had to miss a day of classes when I had my interview, but all my professors were very understanding and happy for me. As for your manager, wait until you know the exact day and tell him/her right away. I can't imagine a pharmacist not wanting you to take off for a pharmacy school interview. As for the suit, yes wear a suit. The most professional color is black. Good luck!
