I am a Canadian student who submitted my AADSAS application already. Apparently the "revised" version was sent to the schools Aug 12 (not sure what this means). My question is whether I should even expect to be considered for interviews before I write the Canadian DAT on Nov. 5. I have a good GPA (around 3.88 sci and 4.0 non-sci)...is there a chance they will interview me based only on this, and my application?
Thank you!!!

Unfortunetly no, most schools require a complete application before they interview. Good luck!

And don't forget that the schools won't get your scores till like January or so. That's why I took the American DAT so I could have a shot to go where I want. You'll get in (if your DAT is decent) but it just might not be your first choice as you'll be pretty late in the game. Good luck!

Thank you both for your responses...wow, that is extremely disappointing. Audio, out of curiosity, did you also apply to Canadian schools? My first choice is definitely to stay in Canada, and I was just wondering whether you could confirm that the American DAT is not accepted in Canada (since there is no carving section). This is primarily why I am taking the Canadian version. Thanks a lot!

Hey,

Yeah, I'm going to apply to Canadian schools as well and like you, they are my first choice...although, I think I'd pick SUNY Buffalo over UBC.

And yes, the American DAT is not accepted in Canada. But, I think it was good for me to take it because now, I'm all set for November.

Good luck and don't be too hard on yourself. You still have a really good chance of getting into a school in the US, you just might have to pay crazy high tuition or get in off the wait list.

Audio, you and I seem to be in the same boat! I'm also from T.O., and distance-wise Buffalo makes a lot more sense than BC...apparently, though, my parents would rather send me to Vancouver than help me out with insane American tuition costs, which I understand. Good for you for writing both DATs -- clearly you are very dedicated, and I have no doubt it will pay off. Have you started practicing the carving yet?

Nope, no carving yet but I will soon. We'll see how it goes. And just about UBC: They have the highest tuition in the country...not much cheaper than SUNY Buffalo.

Just as a side note, someone got an interview from Penn before taking DAT; another person got a straight acceptance from NYU from...basically doing nothing besides applying.

what you failed to note is that there were very special circumstances, and these exceptions, though do occur, are so few and far in between that there's no need to even consider it.

If you want to know what my personal story in this department was (Penn/NYU/Buff), pm my ass.
