Has anyone gone to any interviews, or have any that are coming up? I am really nervous about it!! I am going to Michigan, then Minnesota. Can somebody share some experience, what to expect, what to bring, how it works, etc.?? Thanks!

First of all, which program are you interviewing for?

I interviewed at North Carolina for the MHA program last week and it was very laid back. It featured mostly student led sessions about what to expect, tours, life of the UNC student and so fowarth. Tehre were also professors in and out during these sessions talking to the prospective students. The interview had two professors and a second year student.
It was set up to where you have multiple student sessions before the interview so most of your nerves will be gone by the time the interview rolls around.

All I brought was something to write with, since the provided a folder full of information. I would suggest bringing a notebook just incase nothing is provided.

I am interviewing this week at Ohio State and will share my experiences when I get back.

Thank you for sharing! I am also interviewing for the MHA...

It sounds like UNC is pretty laid back. Were there any difficult questions asked? And what do you think they will base on to judge the interviewees? I'm not sure how to prepare =(

anyway, good luck!

When is your michigan interview. I just got an email asking me to schedule an interview there.

The questions were pretty customized to me as an applicant.
-I currently have a leadership role with my company, so they asked me howI would deal with not being a leader, but being part of a team since they have mainly team based learning.
- I have a background in bioethics, so they asked what part of that I could apply to the program.
- I currently work in health insurace, so they asked if I would want to continue on in that field and if so, in what capacity.

They had standardized questions that they said that they were going to ask, but I could tell that they had actually looked over my application material and was mainly asking questions about that.

Um, I wasn't aware that programs were running interviews. I hadn't seen anything about interviews in the admissions websites of schools I was considering.

Are you all applying for MPH programs?

They both wrote that they are interviewing for the MHA program.

Most MCH MPH programs do not require interviews although UNC does say on their website they do conduct interviews with some applicants.

I believe that in general, MHA programs (not MPH programs) interview their applicants.

I was told that the interviews are not intended to scare or intimidate applicants but to ensure that you are a normal person (their words, not mine)-and convince you to come!

Really? That makes me feel a lot better! I am so nervous and not even sure how to prepare. Btw, my MN interview is in early Feb.

IF you got a interview does it automaticly means you are in? granted that you dont screw up the interview.
