I've been away for a few days attending to more important things (see title). It looks like you've all been seeings some interviews roll on in. Since Monday I got UCLA-Harbor and Mayo-Rochester. Yes, I also got the 'impressed' letter. I thought it was a nice touch.

Congrats! Is this your first kid? Like ear-ache, I also have 2 little ones at home and it's great...wouldn't have it any other way (most days anyway 😉 ). Congrats on your interviews and maybe I'll see you at Mayo.

Hi all...I've been reading for a long time and this is my first post.

Just want to let you know that you all are awesome and that it's good to know I will have good colleagues in the future.

Best of luck to all and I hope that we will all match well.

For me thus far: UF, UVA, GWU, Columbia, UCLA Harbor, TY Harbor. Hoping for some SoCal loving, but nothing yet.

Also, do you know if Prelim Med programs give out invite later than most? I haven't heard back from any of them and I applied to 10.

I've gotten 4 prelim med invites so far, but they are all from smaller community programs. Haven't gotten any of the big ones yet.

And my step 1 score is around 220, so it's not like i'm grabbing at the stars in the sky or anything.

So dont worry, your interviews will come. A lot of places haven't started sending out invites yet at all. It's still totally early. If I wouldn't have gotten any invites by like mid-october, my plan would have been to send out some more applications. It just depends on what the timeline is like at the programs you've applied to. And they might send out batches of invites. (like, for example, with one particular program, I didn't get invited when a bunch of ppl here did initially, but then my invite straggled in like more than a week later)

both by e-mail but wayne state didn't reach my ERAS messages, just my email. My respiratory rate is now 4...up from 2. Feels good to be able and breathe a little more! Keep 'em coming! 🙂

As to CCM, consider UIowa. Very strong SICU months, lots of months during residency, strong CCM fellowship.

Does anyone know how to contact ERAS? I havent received any messages from them in almost two weeks, and its starting to piss me off. Not that I expect all these interviews, but to not have any messages in two weeks is a little weird.

Yeah there must be something wrong with my eras too because I have not received any news lately either 😕

UIowa is considered to be a strong program, by most.

Very strong in regional and CCM.

If you have received the previous messages, then it should be working fine, I guess. Any special communication expecting from ERAS? Actually messages make faster to my e-mail than the ERAS server. I guess intense neurosis/psychosis is finally setting in, looking at the shower of interview offers this week. Have faith and keep checking and posting. 😀 😀 😀 😀 (only outlet to feel better) 😳 🙄 😡

UCSF hasn't downloaded mine yet either. But I hear they dont even look at the apps until the deans letter comes out.

The only program that's sent me an invite by regular mail has been UAB.

all these dates are landing in the middle of my away rotations.. how many days off an away rotation is TOO many, for interviews?

I have a similar prob. I really hesitated taking any days off. However, the program I'm doing it at insisted on scheduling my interview with them during my time there, AND will have the prelims in the area interview me too (even though i dont have invites from them yet). 😍 😍 Really makes my life 1000x easier! I think i'll rank them #1 just for that. 😀

All quiet for two days. We all seemed to have a pretty consistent run of invites for about a week. I wonder if the trickle will begin now and run until Nov. 1. I am only waiting for a few that I really care about and then i will relax- I promise.

However, the program I'm doing it at insisted on scheduling my interview with them during my time there, AND will have the prelims in the area interview me too (even though i dont have invites from them yet). 😍 😍 Really makes my life 1000x easier! I think i'll rank them #1 just for that. 😀

so this particular away rotation is INSISTING on having you do all your local interviews together? that is great, actually. did they offer that to you, or did you talk to the course director about it?

i'm already missing 1 day of a 4 week rotation at NYU for an interview, and then i've got 3 interviews (1 anesth, 1 prelim+1 TY (at same place)) scheduled right after the rotation ends. now this brookdale prelim offer looks like it wants to slide in during those 4 weeks. thing is, i don't want NYU to think i'm anything less than very interested in them.. but i feel like that's the impression they may get if i keep missing days to do interviews. and prelims, at that.

i read back that last paragraph and it's kinda hard to follow. sorry bout that.

should i contact NYU and ask them their policy? or should i just wait til i get there and ask... or am i really overthinking this because i don't have anything better to do right now..

I would call the med student coordinator and talk to them. med students usually worry too much... let them know u r very serious but u would like to save 2-3 $350 plane tickets! If they aren't happy, offer to do extra shifts or call on weekends u r free. OR, take it as a sign that u wouldn;t want 2 B a resident there as they are too rigid!

thanks for such sensible advice. i called them, and i'm totally worrying too much. they even offered to chop the 4 week rotation to a 3 weeker, but i told them that it's not necessary. otherwise they have no problem with it. i'm sure they get asked this question a million times every fall.

If you haven't called them, do it pronto. I got a letter just before the evac for Rita and consequently forgot to bring it with me. I called earlier this week when I got back and the only dates left (as I was told) was in January. November/December are booked.

As OCD as I'm sure we all are and you likely have already called, I wouldn't you to lose your spot due to misdirected mail!! 😱

They actually insisted! 😍 I called them to schedule my interview for a date that was a month after i finish the rotation, since I felt I would have to make a 2nd trip anyway for the prelim interviews. as I was spelling my name, she goes "wait! you're doing an away with us right? we should have u interview while you're here!" So I told her my concern about missing rotation days and having other interviews in the same city, so that i'd have make another trip anyway. So she goes "we'll talk to those prelims and just have u interview at all those places while you're here. There's no reason for u to have to make another trip."

thanks - i called immediately and am going in January. I wanted to go earlier - oh well. I evacuated from New Orleans and I thought I had changed my address on ERAS before I submitted it, but evidently I didn't! So I can't really blame it on the USPS. Just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed any others. doesn't sound like i did.

Just woke up from an 8 hour slumber and noticed the Georgetown email. What a tease.

Got my USC invite email 9/30. Makes me wonder if I should have applied to more schools in Cali. USC was the only one I applied to. Looks like USC is increasing their size from 15 to 18 residents per year. Anyone know anything about USC? I applied b/c of Trojans football and wanna be part of champions 😀 Can I say that during the interview? "Yes, I will rank you No. 1 b/c you guys are the champs." 👍
