I am hoping that people who put research on their card are going to be getting the 1/25 interview date in order to coincide with the VMD/PhD interviews (to have all the research people there at once). Any idea if this is how it has been done in the past? Just trying to convince myself that my invite is on the way =o). Have we been able to discern which dates have which interests? Has anyone who put research heard anything yet?

I got an email for the dual program today and they didn't suppress the list (har har) and it has been sent to 12 people. I would think Penn would interview more than 12 applicants per week, so hopefully you guys will hear soon 🙂

I don't think so - they just sort interviews by interest so that you can see the appropriate facililties (like New Bolton if you're interested in large animal/equine)

I put down LA too for Penn. According to threads from last year, I think the LA group is pretty near the end of interviews.

1. Is there a particular acceptable or unacceptable way to wear your hair (as a female)? I heard you shouldn't wear your hair down.

IMO:
1. I don't think it matters about wearing hair up or down. Whatever makes you feel your best, and what you and others close to you think make you look the most professional. With that said, if you like to wear fluorescent pink "pony tail" clips, I'd.. uhm... skip those 😉 You will almost never catch me wearing my hair down, but I did for my interview day, because I think it just makes me look better.

2. You don't have to or need to (unless, I assume, you are specifically reminded to) - but it might be a good idea. You can then jot down the name(s) of interviewers so you can follow-up with a thank-you card later, or make any other pertinent notes afterwards. (Others may disagree, but I think jotting down stuff DURING the interview might be distracting...) I'm glad I carried a little tiny pad and pen in my purse that day, because I was so nervous, I think I could've forgotten names, for instance. I wrote 'em down after the interview was completed.

Do whatever you are more comfortable with as far as your hair goes. Just make sure that if you wear your hair down you don't fidget with it a lot during your interview.

When I emailed them about my address changing for winter break, they said that they'd start mailing out invites the second week of January. We should be hearing soon!

Here's what my letter said (well, all the important stuff, anyway)
--you're invited to an interview on Friday, January 11, 2008
--plan to be there from 11a-430p
--report to the receptionist in the first floor lobby on the new Hill Pavilion, 38th and Baltimore Ave. The parking garage at 38th and walnut is the most convenient. (I'll be relying on public transportation so this isn't of much importance to me, but it might be for you)
--they don't have space to include family/friends in the scheduled program
--schedule:
-11:00 arrive hill pavilon-lobby
-1130-12 overview of the school, hill 220
-12-1:30 tour of vet school campus and ryan small animal hospital
-1:30- return to hill 220--LUNCH with vet school students
-1130-430 interviews at hill pavilion, discussions with students
--cnofirm your appointment by telephon or email by dec. 28 (for the jan. 11 interview date)
--bring a recent photograph, no larger than 3" x5" with your name written on the reverse side

As far as Minnesota goes... I'm glad they are pretty specific about when they send out interview invitations, however, I am certainly going to be very antsy over the next week or so knowing that the letters should be on their way.
