CONGRATS on your ISU acceptance, Zoonose!

Ive been reading all these vetschool student blogs and WHOA! Super scary how everyone feels like they arent going to make thru the semester and then somehow, things just work out. Well, most of the time. ONe blog (Life of a veterinary student) talks about how a bunch of people flunked out of VMRCVM last year.

I know that vet school is heck-hard, and that you REALLY need to know how to deal with stress before getting in so that you are at least slightly prepared to not spontaneously combust during times of high stress. I know that it is normal for one or two people to flunk out per year,though. >.> But that won't be any of us!

And yeah, I am stalking my mailman too. I hope my letter didn't get lost in the forwarding shuffle. 😳

I am pretty set on ISU . . even over my state school at this point, just because their public health affliation (being across the street from the national animal disease center and all). The only other school I would consider would be CSU . . but this is more of a dream since I am oos for that also.

Same here! It kinda scares me because I really thought I'd pick my IS school, which is still an awesome school. But I already knew of the disease center in Ames and then when I found out about the other centers at the school and about their MPH program and talked to students and went on the tour, well, I just fell in love.😍

At the interview today, they told us that notification either way will be coming via e-mail on Feb 15. It was stressed that VERY FEW invites have gone out already, and the no other invites will be going out until 2/15.

Just to clarify: you mean acceptances here? Or (getting my hopes up here) do you mean invites to interview?

Does ISU interview IS applicants?

Yes. I believe most of us interviewed the 9th or 10th...? I think a few other Iowa residents interviewed the first weekend but I'm not sure how many interviewed/are interviewing this weekend.

Kittenj, I don't think they'll be sending out any more interview invites unless they can't fill the class from the already-interviewed. Your chances are much better for that if you're OOS as the IS waitlist usually doesn't move much (if at all). Whether you're IS or OOS, I know it's not fun to hear nothing until February 15th rolls around 🙁

I'm sure it did mean acceptances, but actually I heard that there was going to be another round of interviews, so this weekend wasn't the last. But I doubt they would be sending out interview invites after this week.

I can't speak about the possibility of more interview invites going out, but my reference to invites was about acceptances (invites of admission).

Perhaps Dr. Howard had the wrong dates, but I could swear she said Feb 15. I hope we hear sooner, but who knows. It will probably be that Friday then....a wonderful Friday the 13th...

Just doing some research in the 2012 acceptances thread and they did send out notices on the 15th, but it was a Friday. Perhaps, it will be the friday before, either way, not much more time to wait. For anyone else who also applied to UW-M, looks like they sent out emails the same day. 😱 Wouldnt that be AWESOME!

I tend to do a little too much 'research'...lol I think I have that thread memorized. XD

LVT2DVM, love ya, girl. We'll all hear good news, come mid-Feb. We might have to wait until Monday, or maybe we'll get our mail on Saturday. Who knows? It'll drive me crazy when we get even closer to that timeframe though.

During the morning interview session on Saturday Dr. Howard said decisions would be emailed on the 15th. She followed by saying not to be worried by what you read on SDN!

Survived my interview, pretty happy with it, will post more on the Iowa Interview Updates thread, but probably not tonight, as I'm exhausted, my luggage is still somewhere in middle america, and i have to go pick up the foster dog again.

I also remember Dr. Howard mentioning that when they sent out those first acceptances, they only sent out a total of 22! So congrats to those who are already in, you guys are spectacular!

Now the countdown begins to the 15th... Like I really needed one more thing to obsess over

We gotta be grateful...Feb 15th is definitely not as far away as we think! It'll be hear before we know it and tons of other schools don't even interview until past that date!

Lol.. ok! It's ok, I mean at least I know for sure now, and I'm hoping it was because my GRE scores got there really late, and I took it on the 16th, yes STUPID me.. I shouldn't have taken Genetics, Calc based physics, Orgo I and studied for my GRE. 🙁

I think it's useful to think critically about what you could improve in your application. But before you become too convinced what the reason was for not being accepted, you should schedule a post-mortem interview with someone in academic affairs/the deans office and figure out what their take on it was and how you could improve.

Thanks! I was shocked and excited to hear from Iowa so early. I'm applying to the dual MBA program, so if I do go to Iowa I'd actually be in the class of 2014. I had gotten a little card in the mail a few weeks back, and I just got my big envelope today with my formal acceptance letter. I got into my state school so I'm not sure I'll be at ISU (I have to wait and see what happens with the MBA program), but good luck to everyone else waiting to hear and I'm anxiously awaiting for 2/15!

I know some people who haven't heard anything from ISU but they called Brenda Cousins and she told them that they weren't going to be accepted (even though they haven't gotten a rejection yet). Maybe they are holding off in order to put some people on the waitlist? I would reccommend calling them to see your application status. Wouldn't hurt...

I just checked - it actually does say "Admit". I havn't been to this page in awhile, so I'm not sure when it first changed.

Wow... I really wish I found this site before tonight! It would have helped immensely. I was in the recent round of interviews, and am extremely anxious to hear back from them as well.
