The only news I've got is that they've updated the "Class of 2013" pages... they've even posted the acceptance form! GAH! I'm trying not to dwell on the fact that we'll hear in a week, but I keep thinking about it anyway. "Hmm, what should I eat for breakfast? Trailer or apartment if I get in? I mean... cereal or bagel?"

I may be officially insane by the 15th. Good luck, everyone :luck:!
 
Every time I think about the fact that I'll know in one week, my heart skips a beat and my chest tightens up. I am so excited but nervous as well.

cuitlamiztli, hah hah, you're not alone with the obsessions. I had a dream that I was interviewing with them again. :laugh: I guess my brain ran out of ideas (I'd already had two ISU interview dreams before that!)

I've been contacting ISU to make sure they have received my fall transcript (my University sent them out early Jan, but they must have gotten lost in the mail because ISU didn't have them when I called before). So, just trying to sort that out so I've been calling a bunch to see if they've gotten the new one that was sent out yet. 😳


I'm genuinely wishing for the best for all of you! Especially you, LVT2DVM. I actually think I might be more happy for you than for myself when you get your acceptance. 😉
 
Does anybody know what happens (hypothetically) if someone got accepted to the vet program, but were to fail one of thier spring semester courses? Do you think a vet school would try to work that out with you, or do you think you would just be bumped from the program, and someone from the wait list would go instead? (probably a stupid question, but just figured I"d ask) Ex... a prereq course too, like orgo II
 
If you still have prereqs left to go, any acceptances you get will be contingent upon successful completion of them. I'm pretty sure this is universal for all the schools I've seen.

I have a similar question. On their website it says they would email you once if you were missing pre-reqs/materials. Did anyone get an email about missing classes if they were taking a pre-req in the spring? Just wondering if I am not recieving some e-mails from their office.
 
I'm taking a pre-req this semester, and never got an e-mail about it. They assume it's covered if you list it on your application (I did get an e-mail about another class that they wouldn't accept as a pre-req).

Don't worry, you aren't missing anything! 🙂

Do you think they will send them out exactly on Feb 15th or just by Feb 15th?

I can't either, I have to keep the phone out of my sight or I might just end up calling. I have my Penn interview this Friday so the entire time I'm in Philly I'm going to be thinking about my e-mail and whether or not it's waiting for me. Maybe they'll be sweet and send them out a few days early, like tomorrow!!!! I can't imagine they'll go out on a Sunday. ?

At least it's not an outright rejection. It's like having your foot in the door rather than getting it slammed in your face 😀.

Do they really only start calling alternates in April? Now that will make me go crazy!

Yes, this means that I am on the alternate/wait list as well. Guess I kinda fudged my interview. 😳 It's understandable that I'm a bit disappointed, but I am VERY happy because I still have a chance to get in. Like you guys said, it's not a rejection, so yay. 🙂

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else who has yet to post...:luck:

What I got was an e-mail saying they would be mailing us a letter on Feb 20 with ranking # and we won't know if we get bumped down the list into the "accepted" zone until after April 15. =(

Hey, Lcky, would you mind giving your stats? I am just curious, in a morbid way 😳

Edit: Oops, nm Lcky! I just saw your post in the acceptances thread. Congrats by the way! It must be a huge relief =)
 
Hello! I suppose I'll get in on the madness. I've also been waitlisted, which is a hell of a lot better than the rejection I resolved myself to receiving. Congrats to those who got the "holy grail"! Iowa St is an awesome school, and I'll be the first to admit I am green with envy!

A side: Does anyone have any idea how far down the waitlist ISU went for 2012?

I saw everyone's posts and about had a heart attack... BUT I GOT IN! I'M GOING TO VET SCHOOL!! I'm shaking so badly I can hardly type! 😀😀😀

I want to say that got down to spot 80 or something...since they do accept so many OOSers, there are a lot of those OOSers who end up declining for one reason or another (accepted to their cheaper in state school, etc.)

So DEFINITELY don't give up hope!!! :luck::luck::luck::luck:

Now, hate to be a bother any further, but would you (or anyone) happen to know approx. how many spots there are on the waitlist?
 
I got an email this morning saying that I had been admitted!😀 I'm so relieved. Congrats to everyone else who got in and waitlisted (I've heard that they go through their waitlist quickly so don't be discouraged if you get a high number)! This day is so much better than I thought it'd be! Back to work!
 
I've never seen myself react that way to something. Now that I've had some time to calm down, HOLY CRAP! what a relief, I was accepted! I thought I was going to shed a tear, but my eyes are still dry. Maybe I will later when it all sinks in and I stop dancing around scaring the crap out of my cats. 😀

And don't forget...let's thank Iowa State for sending us these decisions earlier than they said they would. Hey, at least we didn't have to wait a few more days. 😳 I'm glad I found out sooner so that I didn't go crazy, even though I do have to play the waiting game for a while longer. :laugh:
 
Alternate! Better than rejection... but think I am going to withdrawl, and try to apply again next year. Having a hard time working full time and taking Physics and OrgoII at the same time. Will try one class at a time 🙂 Congrats to all of you who made it in!!!! It seems like a really great school, and I wish you all the best 🙂
 
I have a friend who is a first year at Iowa and she was originally waitlisted at Ohio and Iowa. She was accepted at both in the end, but she started at #86 or so at Iowa and #110-ish at Ohio. It did take a while for her to get the news she was accepted though. I think she finally heard from Ohio in July or August but she heard from Iowa much sooner.

ACCEPTED! Bawled like a baby and jumped around and scared my dog half to death. Best day of my life.
 
😱 I started shaking when I saw the email from Brenda! Of course I'd prefer to not have to wait any longer, but c'est la vie.

When I applied to ISU as an OOS student a few years back I was waitlisted as #136. When I saw that number it crushed me because I thought that there was no way they would get through that many students. I called the school to ask what my chances were and Brenda told me that they frequently get past the 100 mark and to not give up hope. I did not get off the waitlist and ended up going elsewhere but I do know someone that year who was #92 and they got accepted in June.

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS To everyone who was accepted!!

I am definitely going to stay on the alternate list for now-- and see what happens with some of my other schools. I am a teeny bit bummed but you know what? It's one more step in the right direction.

And huge hugs to LVT2DVM.... If only it was up to us...

Now I'm just sad - I'm so sorry LVT2DVM. I wish we could do something for you ... if I lived in Ames, I would totally orchestrate a sit-in, hunger strike, anything. 🙁
 
I signed on here this evening specifically to see LVT's excited post about her acceptance letter. I don't know what else to say except that I am highly disappointed and I'm very sad for you, LVT. 🙁
