Is 12 schools one too many to apply to?

I already sent out my AADSAS on July 12th, i called and i'm number 21XX, makes me wish I applied earlier, like May, but what's done is done. I'm taking my DAT's on 8/16...wish me luck...

Anyway, my QUESTION is: Is applying to 12 schools bad? I applied to this many schools just to be safe. I just hope that it doesn't look bad as far as adcoms go. I applied to Boston, Tufts, Nova, UF, UConn, Univ. of Tennesse, Meharry, Howard, LSU, UT-Houston, UT-SA, Baylor (don't ask me why i applied there...but you never know...maybe if i get like a 25 i'll have a chance). My first DAT i got a 16/19 (AA/PAT). God willing I will do much better the 2nd time around. I would greatly appreciate some feedback. thanks.

Yeah, that does look bad, but not as bad as your DAT score. Good luck 8/16. 👍

No. It won't.

I applied to Boston, Tufts, Nova, UF, UConn, Univ. of Tennesse, Meharry, Howard, LSU, UT-Houston, UT-SA, Baylor (don't ask me why i applied there...but you never know...maybe if i get like a 25 i'll have a chance).

Did you mean don't ask why you applied to Baylor or any TX school? 'cause Baylor itself is no more difficult to get into than Houston or SA. Honestly, unless you're a TX resident, I wouldn't bother with any of them.

I would forget about all TX schools, LSU, and Tennessee. (assuming you are a FL resident). They are very hard to get into without being a resident. I wouldn't even spend money on a secondary! That was my mistake.

I think applying to more schools is a good thing (if you can afford it). It gives you the chance to look into schools and locations you have never considered and hopefully allow you to visit new areas (interviews). Good luck with the DAT 🙂 and the application process

Nova is actually one of my top two choices, UF is the other. I live 45 mins. away from Nova. So hopefully I will see you there next year, as a D1. 😀

to answer your question,
i think that it will depend on how well you do on your DAT. if you do well, than yes 12 is probably enough. if you don't do so so well, then i'fd apply to some more schools.

just see how you do on your 2nd DAT 1st.

What is up with your choices? UoT, LSU, Howard, UConn, UF, Meharry, UT-Houston, and Baylor? For all of these schools you either have to be a resident of the state or Minority (Howard and Meharry). I think you could have picked other schools that would give you a better look such as UISD, NYU, UDM, USC, Arizona, Case, Creighton, Marquette, and others possibly. These are private schools and have no residences req. I hope you looked into this, but I doubt you are a resident of Tennessee, Florida, Louisiana, Texas and NY.

Thanks guys, but now if I add some of those schools, i'll have something like 15 schools that I will be applying to...isn't that a bit too much (By the way, I forgot to mention that I already applied to NYU and I haven't applied to LSU or Uni. of Tennessee. But isn't too late to do anything about the Texas schools? The only reason I applied to UT-san antonio is because my cousin just graduated from there this past may, so I figured I'd have a chance, maybe? But I think I'm going to add Marquette, Case, USC, and Arizona. what do you think?

wow, so I guess I will apply to five more schools. Congrats on being accepted to IUSD ( I think I'll add them to the list as well). Do you mind telling me what your gpa was and your DAT scores were...I'm taking mine on 8/16

1st off i took my DAT around the same time as you. (8/1/03).

my stats:
cum gpa 3.08
sci 2.96

DAT AA/SCI/PAT 18/21/18 (if i remember correctly.lol(

i definitely think that you should add IUSD. our school strongly encourages out of staters.
