Is a 7 verbal really gonna hold me back, if I get past the "cutoff"?

Applying this cycle, got a 29 (12/ 7/ 10); last year I got a 27 (10/ 8/ 9). Everything else is pretty solid in my application. If I apply ED to a state school with a stated minimum of 27 MCAT with no restriction on the subscore (unlike the other state school), would the 7 still continue to hurt me bad? I mean, everything else in my application is fine. I am an Asian male though; AL resident

If I don't get in this cycle, I will apply DO next yr
