Is a SMP possible for a low gpa and a mediocre MCAT?

I have a 3.1 cGPA and a 2.8 sGPA (maybe 2.9 at the end of this semester) with a 28 MCAT. Are there any SMPs that would accept those stats? Two I have a deep interest in are RFU BMS and UCincinnati Physiology. I know a couple of students who got into Tulane Pharmacology/CMB and Mississippi College MS with similar stats, so I will probably also apply to those. Do you think DO SMPs would be easier to get into or possible? My DO cGPA is around 3.2 and sGPA is around 3.1.

My aim is to go for DO schools with grade replacement or take advantage of LSU's 32 hour policy which allows 32 hours of upper level sciences to count as your new GPA.

First, yes, you could probably get into an SMP with those stats. For the SMPs that are, in my opinion, worth doing - no, you would probably not be competitive with a 28 MCAT and 2.8 sgpa.

If that is your goal, do not do an MD SMP. I am not certain about DO SMPs, but I would imagine that they would not count for grade replacement, so they likely won't help you either. Go back to undergrad, retake any C's, D's, or F's, and take some upper level science courses, and apply to DO school and LSU after a year, or at the most 2 years, of courses. This would be much less stressful, much less expensive, and much less risky than an SMP.

You definitely won't get into cincy with those stats. They are love high MCATs and love the 3.0/38 students. You might get into some lower-tier SMPs assuming they don't have a 3.0 gpa cutoff. If your plan is DO, and you don't want to spend a year or two taking advantage of grade replacement, then do the DO Smp. It shouldn't be hard to get over a 3.0 with DO grade replacement to meet any sort of minimums they might have.

Hi! I am also curious about what are considered top-tier MD SMPs. Thank you!
