Is abstract pub a good reason to send update to MSTP schools?

Although for some schools, I can't seem to find the location to send an update--so perhaps they are not receptive to updates in general?

Always look on the site to see if they are receptive to updates. If you are presenting this work somewhere, I’d say that’s a worthy update

If a school welcomes updates but I already mentioned it to the interviewer should I bother submitting one in writing? I'm pretty sure they made note of it in their notes. I updated them about a 3rd author pub and an abstract presented by me as a poster at a national conference (abstract wasn't published though, just in the conference materials.
