Is august 31st ok to take DAT?

Hey guys,

I scheduled my DAT for august 31st as I wanted to give myself more time to study for it. I'll be submitting my app by next week. Will I still be ok to get pre-december interviews assuming that I get 22+ on the exam? Is end of august considered late to take the exam?

honestly, even if your a stellar applicant and you rock your DAT's I would think your severly decreasing your chances. Almost all of the schools suggest a Sept.1st deadline for serious consideration. I know a guy whos a D3 dental student right now that applied and took his DAT around then. he had around a 3.6 and an excellent DAT and still didnt get in. Up to you, its only $25 to reschedule and if you make it like 3 weeks earlier, I think you may be doing yourself a favor.

Earlier is definitely better. Shoot for at least 2 weeks earlier, IMO.

Definitely! Just take it like 2-3 weeks earlier, that may seem like a trivial amount of time but it really could make a huge difference!

At my school, u want all your stuff (official transcripts, DAT, etc.) no later than the end of July. So I would definitely say, reschedule if you think u will be prepared enough. U should be if you are already studying. Do Not Wait. That will be the difference in getting into school this year or not.

Ok, I'll reschedule it right now,

Would you say a day between 7-17 of august would be much better? August 17th would be the latest date I choose. I'm looking at whats open right now.

Many dentists told me to get everything in as quick as possible because it saves time on their end and frustration on yours. As long as you have the applications and supplemental information in and the DAT scores are the last thing to go out then there is nothing to worry about! Just make sure to rock the DAT!
