Hey everyone,
I have a quick question. I was planning on taking the DAT sometime during the last two weeks in July, but am unable to because the nearest Prometric test center is completely booked until August 3rd. SHould I wait until August 3rd? Or will this be too late? I plan on submitting my app within the next week, but I want to make sure I'm OK with my DAT scores coming in so late.

My other option is to take it the 3rd week in July, but the only problem is that I would have to drive 4 hours and I worry that I would be out of my element being so far away (having to coordinate a hotel, finding the place, etc).

What would you do?

It is better to be prepared then take the DAT and do bad and have to wait 90 days to retake. While Aug is a bit late it is better then taking in july and then oct.

I took it on sept 1, and received 15 interviews. If you do well it absolutely not late.

You are going to get a lot of responses to this about telling you how late AUG is. It is a few months after the application process starts, so you will be a little behind the curve. But, in no way are you late! Now, if you have a weak application and then you get low scores the chances of gettign an interview early are slim. But if you have a decent application and get good scores on the DAT, it is very possible to get an interview by mid-Nov which is the cut off line that a lot of schools have for making the first round of acceptance letters. Your odds are greatest if you make the interview by mid-Nov.

I wasn't able to get my applications in until mid-Sep when I applied. I still was able to get all my interviews in by mid-Nov and received 6 acceptance letters that year.

Is it too late? Absolutely not! But, if you don't have a strong application I suggest getting your applicatio in and DAT taken as early as you possibly can afford to do it to better your chances of a early interview.

I'm also planning on taking my DATs mid-late Aug. But I will be submitting my application with everything included in it - except DATs by the end of this week.

My GPA isn't that great, 3.1ish, with an upward trend my last two years w/ 3.5+ GPA.

I'm thinking Aug. won't be too late to take it, bc I want as much time to study so I can do well. What do you guys/gals think?

Thanks!

I think its possible to score 20+ with half the time of studying if you study correctly. If you study efficiently, 3-4 weeks is enough. people who study 2-3 months arent studying efficiently. So study efficiently and apply 1 month early will get you a better chance than studying for a long time(which doesnt always measure how well you prepared)and applying "late"

I heard that the first interview letters are sent in August. This means taking September isn't considered late even though they will get 2nd interview letters.

I take mine on August 1st.
