So both of my parents did not finish high school as they were born outside of the US in small villages where education was not an option. My mother finished upto 10th grade (no documentation of diploma) and my father did finish high school but there is no documentation and it was at a village school. When they immigrated to the US they tried Adult school but did not receive GED or anything. Therefore, education is less than high school for both.
I am first generation/first in the family to receive a bachelors (cGPA: 3.8), I was born in the US moved to a different "developing/undeveloped country" and studied there for a couple of years. Came back to the US finished high school and then graduated college. With my grades it is clear that I DID NOT struggle during school. I did however struggle in the other country due to language barriers (only knew English) but was able to overcome it after attending lots of after school tutoring - this was from 5th grade to 10 grade so I'm guessing most adcoms wouldn't care.
Also, my parents net income is <20,000 and we all received medicaid, I received FAP and full tuition fin aid throughout college and worked part time
So my question is this considered a disadvantage even though if you look at my academic history it looks like I did not struggle at all? I honestly wasn't going to choose the option but after seeing others talking about low income = disadvantage, I feel like I clearly have had a disadvantage compared to others, any input???
