I am starting my first gap year and got a job at an urgent care front desk. My responsibility is to make appointments for the patients, check them in, assist them in checking in, manage the payments by the patient, escort them to the room before doctor sees them and answer all questions related to billing and pharmacy. I will not have any exposure to the doctor patient interaction. However, I will be interacting with patients in front desk. I would really appreciate if anyone can answer if this is clinical as I aim to apply next year. Thank you!

According to my definition, you are interacting with patients and up-close to them. You are seeing their pain, their fear, their discomfort, their embarrassment and shame regarding their financial circumstances. You are in a position to put them at ease, to be reassuring, to moderate their expectations regarding wait times.

You should have (or have had) shadowing experience to see doctor/patient interactions and other things that go into a physician's day but in terms of experience with patients, I think the job is a good one.
