Is it fine or discouraged to include links on your application?

For the activities and achievements sections, for some of the extracurricular organizations I was involved in, as well as a publication, I considered including links to the website of the organization or publication. Do you think this would help, or be looked upon unfavorably by adcoms, or would it not matter?

Thanks in advance for the answers!

being that apps are generally printed out, people are going to laugh at it.

Or they are combined into a single PDF. I would think, "no your job is to explain it, not for me to figure out what it is."

Oh I definitely include a description, I was just considering including the links with the description so they have proof of it. But if they're usually printed out I can see why I shouldn't include it. I just thought they view them all electronically since it would take up a lot of paper to print out so many apps

If they want to check it out, they can Google it. Plus, most publications have doi or PMID that you can include.

I think attaching links (especially those with long links like (www. efg.com/=sdfkwejriejirjflskdjfaksdjfweiru&rjewkrj___123kjslkdfjwier) will distract readers.

Before you recommend an application for interview, you have to at least skim the whole thing. If there is a link, that whole process is slowed down. If the screener is on the fence about an application the additional burden of following a link may be just enough to decide the issue.
