I suppose I shouldn't try to give excuses, but let's just say that I got quite a few secondaries a month to a month and a half ago and I have been sitting on them. I have just started to finish and send some out now but I am concerned that it's getting too late and I've lost my competitiveness.

I received a 29M, have a GPA around 3.4, and have a science GPA slightly below that. I have health experience as an EMT, ER volunteer, and shadowed a DO.

I'm doing secondaries for UMDNJ, PCOM, PCOM-GA, Touro, Touro-CA, VCOM, WU, and am waiting to hear back from WVSOM and NYCOM.

I feel really worried that I might have screwed myself over and I just wondered if anybody has any thoughts/advice. Do I still have a good chance to get into a school for 2009?

I'd say you're still good. 👍

Get those secondaries in and see what happens!

Perhaps I am overreacting. Thank you for the responses. I'll hopefully have the rest of my apps out this week.

Do you think any schools would ask me why there was a delay with my secondary application?

Unlikely, but some might extend an offer to interview! Get them submitted. 👍

I hope its not too late, because my primary applications just got cleared by AACOMAS after two months of processing! I haven't even got secondaries yet. So I hope that its not too late....

Your definitely not too late. I didn't have my secondaries in until December last year and received interviews at all of the 7 schools I applied to. My stats were very similiar to yours. Getting working on those essays and send them in!

LOL I did almost the same thing & my stats are very close to yours (29M, 3.6 GPA). I submitted PCOM's secondary and am waiting on the interview/secondary from NYCOM, but still haven't submitted secondaries to the other 2 schools on my AACOMAS (LECOM & NSU-COM). Personally, I just ran out of funding because I also applied to several allopathic schools, and the cost of secondaries + travel to interviews just got ridiculous. Most of the secondary app deadlines are pretty far away still, so I didn't think it was too big of a deal. Planning on finishing up in the next week or two 🙂
