i applied via ERAS and hardly got any responses from programs. only 12 rejections so far out of around 50 programs to which i've applied. is it always this quiet? is it a good sign? or are programs just not going to say anything until there is an interview?

Thanks!

Assuming you are talking about IM or FM (for a few other specialties, I understand invites are still being given out), at this point in the season the vast majority of interview invites have been given out. Some programs will tell you you're rejected as soon as all of their interview dates are filled and they pick a short list from which to make a waitlist, some will formally reject you after the interview season is done, and others will just stay silent forever. I for one am considering all of the places I haven't heard from rejections at this point.

Doesn't mean someone couldn't get lucky and pull a few interviews late in the season, but I would not count on it. No matter how you look at it the silence is a bad sign.

Docu, its late in the interview season. If you've only gotten rejections so far, and haven't heard anything from the rest of the programs you applied to, you probably won't be getting interviews. Most programs have already sent out all of their interview invites.

No it is not a good sign. As noted above, most programs have given out all their interviews although a few may still be forthcoming. Many programs do not go to the trouble of rejecting applicants so this is not a case of "no news is good news".

As you've discussed on multiple threads, you are not a competitive applicant so the lack of interviews should not be surprising to you.

I'm Still getting 1-2 invites per week so I would stay hopeful and email the programs you're particularly serious about.

some people can't even complete residency. i was in residency and i got licensed, and i am finding out you can do great things without having to go back and finish residency. finishing residency is for the birds. (i love birds though btw lol).

u can learn to do fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided pain procedures and make hundreds of thousands to a million per year. however the equipment and rent is something u have to be able to afford. im trying to see if i can get into that.

God is guiding me in a better direction i think. (unless im speaking too soon). who needs to be board certified / board eligible and cry about it all day long when u can make more money and have more freedom without it.

I can't believe I read that thread 😱

Makes me wonder WTF they actually learned during clinical rotations. Did they stick their fingers in their ears and go LALALALA for 2 years 😕

As a US IMG I applied to 83 Cat. IM programs have average scores 222/233/pass all first attempt. I have 7 IV's right now but haven't heard back from like 40 programs. I contacted a bunch of them a few sent a rejection, a few told me I was wait listed for interviews and a few are still silent. I'm hoping to grab maybe 2 more IV's from places that told me I was wait listed. This seems to be fairly average of what's going on when talking to most of my friends.

to be brutally honest, you're sitting about where you should be at this point in the season if your post history is indicative of what you may have written in your personal statement.

and in all seriousness, seek help. 👍
