Is it possible to drastically raise my MCAT score? What can I do to improve it?

Hey everyone!

I have been loosely studying for the MCAT for the past 5 months (a difficult course load/extracurricular activities prevented me from studying to my full potential), and I just took the AAMC 3 to see where I stand. I got a 27 (10 PS, 8 V, 9 BS). I was in shock to realize how behind I was in my studying. My MCAT is in march, and now I'm thinking of pushing it back because I am aiming for a 35, but this is no where close!

I know I am very capable of getting a high score as I've excelled in all my science classes, and I understand the material on the MCAT fairly well--or so I thought. Granted, I didn't focus much on bio or chem because I was scared about physics. I studied a lot for physics, and I pretty much got every single physics-related question right.

Anyhow, I am very nervous right now as I am not where I need to be. How should I approach studying? I do need to focus more on the other subjects (very poor planning on my part). Exactly how should I study for this? Please help!

Are you reviewing your tests? Why are you getting questions wrong?

Not enough time? Unfamiliar with the content? Can't remember formulas/concepts? Silly mistakes? Test anxiety? Not absorbing information in the passages? Doing better/worse on discretes than on passages?

From what you said if content review is not a problem, maybe you just aren't as familiar with the passage/problem format, in which case you may just want to do practice sections/tests and keep asking yourselves the above questions, rather than content review.
