Is it possible to have a part-time job when studying in dental school?

Just curious, since we all are foreign trained dentists, and some may pracitced many years in their home country, the courses in dental school should be easy for us ? Because we have learnt them all (only that we learnt them not in english) So, is it possible that we should have lots of spare time in dental school and we can pick up a part time job-just to reduce our loan.

I practiced implantology in my home country, and i want to know if all dental graudates are allowed to practice implantology readily after graduation? Is it possible to earn more if you practice implant dentistry? (i'm not creazy for money, just wondering how long can i pay off my loan) .

Any imputting will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Good luck with finding the time for a part-time job, study load is always huge, school is always full-time... and having a background in dentistry may help you do some clinical requirements faster, but you will still be tied up to school hours.

Doing implants is always up to you, you don't need a special licensure to do that, as long as you feel confident enough to do it

hi, kilani, i just wonded if we still need that much time for studying as we have learnt the staff before? Isn't it possible that you can spend less time on the staff and achieve the wanted goals simply because you have studied it before? could you pleas give me a rough idea , on anverage how much time an international students spent per week for courses?

hi,
the best people to answer this are those already in the international dental program, somone must reply to this, it is really important, if it is not that occupying to go to dental school like it was in home country, for the reason that we now know all the procedures pretty well if in practise for a few years,it shouldnt take all that extra time n effort after the compulsory dental school hours, and one could get a part time job in the evening to support oneself.........i remember i used to have a tough time doing jaw relations and dentures, but i must have made over 50 now, so shouldnt be any priblem doing jaw relations now, coz over the years in practise we improve and dunt have the same old shortcomings,...............but it will be really nice if somone who is already in dental school could answer this.

Kilani is in school 🙄 and he starts in a month. I am sure he would have done his side of the research on how to earn/save as much money since he is going to a pretty expensive school (though its worth every penny 🙂 ). I am also sure how much ever anyone is going to post on the forum, some people simply wouldn't trust unless they experience it themselves. No offence meant. And to answer the original question... I have asked a lot of students in school and... yes you can work but be prepared to fail a few classes as an exchange. What most of us learnt in our schools back home, is nothing compared to what we will learn here.

Hi, thanks for the information, but i still don't understand very well, if dental school deprives an international student 24 hours a day and 7 days a week , how could the regular US dental students (who previously don't even have a clue about the staff being taught at dental school) manage to finish the courses and some may even do combined degree of DDS/MBA?

I just wondered if we can spare some time because at least we are not layman to dentistry like the regular US dental students , we are already in this field, and just refresh and advance our knowledge in US dental school. Somebody please clear this for me? thank you very much!
