I will be applying ophtho next year and I have a question regarding LORs. I was wondering if its possible to get multiple LORs but only assign the ones you feel are the best. For example, if I get LORs from a program in July but I want to hold off until I see if I can get good LORs from a program in August, is it possible to upload my LORs for July into the SFMatch but not assign them and have them as back up in case my LORs for August do not work out?

What would be the best way to handle this?

Absolutely yes, you can do that. I asked for more letters than you can send to any one program and then selected based on what I thought would be the best ones to send in the end. Remember that a number of people apply to multiple fields and have entirely different sets of letters.

Thanks! Good to know

Also good to know that you can only assign a maximum of 4 letters per program. Something I didn't know until the summer before ERAS
