Is it possible to transfer to a US school?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do non american citizens have a chance in transferring to the USA?

Very unlikely. Even Americans will have a hard time transferring to a US med school (a few do each year).

If 1% make it into the US school from the Caribbean I think the chance of a Non US citizen is then 0.25% IMHO

99.75& a No.

Absolutely not possible, unless you consider it possible to win the lottery jackpot.

So if you transfer to a US school, are you still a FMG? Your degree will be from the institution you transferred to, correct?

Your degree will be from the school you transfer to, but you must subit transcripts from all medical schools where you attended for License, I have no idea if you go to a NON California school for Basic then transfer to a US school does the infamous state then grant you a License since you have a degree from a US school, my feeling is yes they will then. Just my guess.

I have a friend that transfered from AUC to a US med school and he is a US medical graduate which holds all the rights other students have that started in a US medical school. I will also say it depends on when you transfer to a US school on whether or not you have to repeat any classes or a year. This information is from him not me. He had to repeat I believe one semester. He also informed me that the medical school he transfered to only wanted his AUC grades and Step I score. They never inquired about his previous information. Maybe this helps someone. Never take everyones information to heart on this site do the research yourself.

hi everyone,

i have an interview with Ross university. Does anyone have any helpful tips?

thanks

I was thinking maybe Santa will give the transfers on Tues?

Hi there,
I was wondering if any Canadian citizens that went to SGU obtained a transfer to a US school school for 3rd year, or if they tried. Thanks for any response.

It's hard, very rare people transfer back. People who are thinking that they will transfer back to US med school after going to any FMG school for few years, be careful!!! There are more chances of getting accepted into a US med school if you improve your stats and reapply rather then taking the FMG transfer route. If you are that keen to get into a US med school, stay back and work hard spend few more years and $$$$ then try again for US med schools. Now if you still want to try please go ahead and I wish you best of luck in all your decisions. In my mind thats the best honest advice.

Thanks.

One guy from Ross transferred into a US med school. His step 1 score was 260.

After all this why transfer? Seems that Drexel is just well, obtuse to the whole thing anyway, you did so well and are almost through just stay with SGU and finish now cause as far as residency it wont matter, you still did the first 2 years as an FMG. Your an FMG still if you transfer.

Unless you start from scratch LOL 😕

You graduate with an M.D. from the school you transfer to... That doesn't spell FMG, if anything it's advanced standing and finishing at a U.S. Med School...
