Is it too early to start studying for the CBSE?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So what would the minds of SDN think of this approach to the CBSE, which is sort of a compilation of things mentioned in this thread:

After I finish my first semester of dental school (T- 2 weeks), pick up a copy of FirstAid and start using it in conjunction with the systems based courses that my school begins second semester and see if there is any peripheral medical/step 1 level information that my school is not covering. Take boards part 1 summer after 1st year (required by school). Continue studying through first semester second year and start to include other CBSE materials. Take CBSE in Feb/March (2nd year). This way if I do not receive a satisfactory score I can take it again in July/August (Summer after 2nd year).

Main point of interest: Is it feasible to start studying with first aid during the end of first and beginning of second years with systems based courses and of course clinical projects during this time?

Cheers

Absolutely would not touch it during 1st year, you'll have plenty on your plate already. Taking it spring of 2nd year is a good call though. I would start fall of 2nd year in that case.

I took the exam after my first year and don't regret it. A few upperclassmen who matched recommended that we take it then. Was I ready for it? Not exactly, but it helped gauge where I need to focus my studies for the next time.

Look let me tell you something if you want OMFS never ever let anyone tell you something is too early. The earlier is better! Go for it.

It takes learning the material in class, then 6 months of no chill IMO people who studying longer than that aren't putting their sack on the wall for those 6 months or didn't learn it in the first place. My 2 Cabras take or leave it. I go to an integrated school so maybe I'm biased
