So what would the minds of SDN think of this approach to the CBSE, which is sort of a compilation of things mentioned in this thread:
After I finish my first semester of dental school (T- 2 weeks), pick up a copy of FirstAid and start using it in conjunction with the systems based courses that my school begins second semester and see if there is any peripheral medical/step 1 level information that my school is not covering. Take boards part 1 summer after 1st year (required by school). Continue studying through first semester second year and start to include other CBSE materials. Take CBSE in Feb/March (2nd year). This way if I do not receive a satisfactory score I can take it again in July/August (Summer after 2nd year).
Main point of interest: Is it feasible to start studying with first aid during the end of first and beginning of second years with systems based courses and of course clinical projects during this time?
Cheers
