I still need to take DAT. Stats are 3.65 GPA with science GPA 3.56(Bio major). What DAT should I aim to get into a dental school. I am a poor test taker. Is it too late for 2014? I should have DAT done in next couple of months.

Next cycle my friend.

Aim for a 30 of course! But realistically, I would be completely happy with a 23+. With your GPA, you can get away with a 20 or 21.

Sadly a 20 or 21 will not suffice with that kind of GPA. I think 22+ is the new '20-21', if you know what I mean.

to the OP: You are too late, Take your time studying for the DAT, and apply next cycle.

3.7/3.6 needs a 22+ to be sufficient? Sounds extreme.

Pre-medical to Pre-dental? but Yes, YOU are too late for this cycle. GPA is good but you need like 20+ on DAT to be more competitive. Good luck

Here's a concept you might want to explore: application deadlines.

Yeah. Forget DAT this or DAT that. Based on the phrasing, timing, and post history, we may even need to go all the way back to shadowing.

I have that GPA and got 10 interviews with a 21 DAT so pretty sure they're fine with a 21.

dang nice.
Did you apply early btw?

Let me rephrase what I said earlier: Applying late in the cycle (post-Aug) with the OP's GPA will probably need a 22 DAT.

I applied June 3rd, but I didn't write the DAT until July 5th and my scores weren't uploaded to AADSAS until July 18th and my applications (including DAT scores) were sent out on July 26th.

That would be every dean's dream. However, it is not in the realm of reality since there are only about 600 in the applicant pool with DAT scores of 22 and above.

Sometimes that's really hard to believe because of all the breakdowns posted on SDN. 😛 But, as someone stated previously, SDN members are only a fraction of the overall applicant pool.

lol. I hope that is the case. I hope 100% of those 600 with above a 22 on the DAT are on SDN
