Hey guys,

I really have been having a hard time finishing my apps after the August MCAT. I think I am in good standing to get into medical school, since I have a 4.0 GPA out of UCLA, and I was averaging mid 30's during my pre MCAT preperation, and feel I did the same on the real thing. I was wondering, if I am bound to be rejected by applying now, or should I wait until next year.

Thanks

well it is a gamble, but with ur stellar gpa and great (?) MCAT score, i think you may have a chance, as long as u apply to a variety of schools.

and according to mdapplicants.com, the UC's have already accepted around 50 students, so if you were thinking of going there, u might want to take that into consideration.

Apply, but do it quick!! Keep in mind you may not get in. If not, it sounds like you'll have no trouble next time around. There are a few schools that don't have rolling admissions (Columbia, Cornell, NYU, off the top of my head) these would be good choices.

If time not an issue (ei, if you can wait till next year), just apply to your top choices. If you could get into say, Hopkins, it would be sad to end up at your safetty school.

How have the UC's accepted 50 students when the AAMC does not permit medical schools to make offers of acceptance until October 15? That makes me even more doubtful about the reliability that website.

Why does everyone make it sound like a person with stellar scores would not get into med school because he/she applied "too late"? How is it too late when the first app deadline os October 15th? and why are schools sending out acceptances so soon?
.

For once, I agree with Psycho

People like you are the reason others get put on "hold"...as schools are waiting for a stellar person like yourself to come along, thus allowing them to bump those on hold into the abyss.

Go get 'em tiger!

Apply. The sooner, the better, but it's only September. I applied in December, and am studying my ass off at a medical school now.

It's definitely getting late. I had my app in around Sept 1 last year and I was interviewing through March. I'm an MS1 now, but the stress of being on waitlists and not knowing where you will end up sucks.
